Merged doublepost

Hello. My name is darkknight as how you can see in my profile.

Well, I am going to talk shortly.
oK, this idea is one i've seen in few VBulletin forums(That i'm pretty sure that can be also scripted for our forums systems).

The idea: when an user is attempting to doublepost, the first message gets edited saying: merged doublepost (hour): Message.
This will avoid the doublepost count.

Actually, I don't like this idea. A no from me. I use vB aswell as ForuMotion and never wanted this.

But this would avoid the horrible doublepost D:.
Think about it. No more people ranking up by spamming.

True, but I just edit their post and merge them. It would help but with ------- everywhere it would look weird.

Listen. That image with that "-" is just an example i was showing... Here could be without that lines (-)

And this will be an option in forums. If this get accepted, in your admin panel, you could easily put as option "no"

My reason is because for me it's not interesting or particularly useful. Some threads are automatically one-person posts (ex: rules or dedicated sections). Also, like in some tutorials, it's sometimes practical/necessary to separate your comments into several distinct posts

You can easily just put: ______

That lines to divide the 1 part of the tutorial to the 2d part.

But doesn't allow different linking ^^

Example :
Post 1 : links to part one (post2), part two (post 3), part three (post 4), etc...
Post 2 : part one
Post 3 : part two
Etc...

There would be an option before sending a topic like:

Topic Options:

-blabla: yes or no?

-Enable Merged Doublepost? Yes or no?

-Blabla: Yes or no.

As I said in another suggestion: the fact that's its an option isn't essential to a yes vote but part of the fine details of why it might be implemented. I vote on the option being used. Here it doesn't interest me, hence I vote no for the option

But listen. There would be an option in the admin panel saying: Enable Merged Doublepost? And you would just put "No". Maybe this wouldn't help you... but to other yes.

My logic is that if I voted "Yes if it's an option", then I'd vote Yes for pretty much everything. If everyone votes like that, then how the hell are the techies supposed to see anything out of the ocean of Yes.
Hence why I only vote Yes for something I truly think would help ForuMotion
