Solved Need assistance creating an icon from existing one

    Post by Brad38 January 10th 2009, 6:03 am

    Hello folks,

I was wondering if someone can help me to create a new button from an existing one. The button is a transparent image and I need to change the coloured part from blue to a nice, darker and brighter blue and still keep it as a transparent image. Or even if you can tell me how to do this. I use paint shop pro but I couldn't figure out how to do this in a proper and professional way.

    Thanks very much Smile

    Hi Brij,

Thanks very much for working on these, but those icons you altered are not transparent images. I need a transparent image in order for it to look right on my forum.

Hi Improviser...OMG! This is just about what I need and it's transparent! Smile How'd you do that? Smile If I may ask, can you try to make the second image stand out a bit more? I'm not particular on the hue/shade of blue, but I need the two images to look considerably different. It's for indicating new messages in my forums.

THANKS SO MUCH, I wish I could have done this myself. I tried and tried and couldn't figure it out.

Yep, but that is a bit too light, can you just make the second one that you fixed a bit more brighter or stand out more? And I have another last favour too if you don't mind. Smile

I thought I could do this myself as well but I can't. I need to create an icon that shows locked forums. I need to put this image of a lock in the center of the original icon I posted, not the enhanced blue one.

Here is the image of the lock:

Could you shrink the lock image down to 20% of it's original size and then place it in the very center of the original icon and still make the whole image transparent?

Thanks again everyone who helped me here, I really appreciate it. Smile No problem Brij, you tried and your revised icons were just like the ones I was able to create. I just needed the images to be transparent and couldn't figure this out either. I'm going to mark this topic as solved now. Smile
