You can't deactivate them. Can make them only for guests. Also you can buy credits to remove those ads.

I never ad ads on my forum and now they are showing.
i get to General >> configuration , but I dont have the option of (no ads anymore !!??) Is this some new changes in the forum and was no information about ??

Why this happen now and was not like that before ?
I always like this free forums because they didn't force me to have publicity.
If this is a new rule I will get a new forum.

Ad's have always been part of Forumotion. How do you expect Forumotion to stay in business? There was no changes that I am aware of.

Ad's show up after time and therefore you have a choice with the options you posted above. If it does work with the topics you must remove them by credits.

The old options: Text ads activation (underlined) : No
Activate ads: members, guests, all
Allow images & video formats
have now been removed, as google for some reason is not giving all forums what they were requesting (ie, gaming adds for gaming forums, and they wanted text, but they got pics) in a large volume, thus this new solution came about:
Activate ads: all, members, guests
Reduce the number of displays for images advertisments : *
*Note that this option reduces all pictures, text and profile ads.
There was no release of information because it was such a trivial change.

argh~ its happens to my forum now... i dunno what to do... my ads is visible for the guest users only... but now me and the other members can see it~ TT_TT
@mr.mario, we can understand that forumotion must accept some ads... but we had an option right? haist~ thats why there is a option like "Activate ads : all, members and guest, guest"... So i think u dont need to tell to us that we can buy some credits to remove the ads... TT_TT

I get that forumotion just like any company are all about making money, however for a change in forum policy on this scale some forewarning would have been appreciated.

I agree with the complainees above.
This new ad scheme is horrible, the ads are very ugly and mash up my forums lay out.
What is more important is that before we used to have a choice: ads for guests only or not.
That way we could keep this dumb GSM or insurance ads out.
Now they are also inside the board!!
I had been working on my forum for three years and now all of a sudden this.....
I was proud I had a non commercial, ad free forum.
Now these bl**dy banners are flashing on every page I visit. It's ruined the looks of my board.
Kindly remove this scheme, or at least give us the choice to only accept text ads (instead of flash) or to have only ads for guests.
If this stays this way I feel obliged to find another forum host.
These sort of unannounced changes occur to often at phpBB. I feel scammed and offended.

I had it set for guests to view and now ads are showing and they are the ugly flash ones generally for ebay.
If we are forced to have them by default, couldn't we at least choose what area they are displayed in, either top or bottom of the page. I'm sure it would be more acceptable to forum owners, me included, if we could place them at the bottom of the forum

I understand that you get what you pay for, but some warning that this was going to happen would certainly have been appreciated.
Is this actually just some kind of bug with the software? I have the option 'Activate ads-> guest' selected, but banner ads are still showing up for members.
