In progress How to remove/edit the links at the bottom

Post by sNIX January 7th 2012, 3:19 am

So yeah the title says it all.

How do you remove the links at the bottom of your forum? Such as "Free Forum" " Contact" etc etc..

I've payed to remove the Copyright links, So now "Free Forum" is now gone but my question is, how exactly do you edit those other links? I've searched allot around forumotion and i couldt find a thing about how to remove/edit those links.

The links that is left at my site is "Contact, Statistic, Home and Report an abuse", Does links is what i want to edit/remove from the bar

So i would highly appricate some help.

Kindly Regards Smile

You can not remove or edit those links.

You can add more links if you want to:
Administration Panel > Modules > Footer Links > Congfiguration

Just a question related to this. But, what if the older forums never updated their footer to the new code and still only has just the ForuMotion and the report abuse link?

I've been with ForuMotion since 2007 and this new 'footer management' tool that can be purchased with credits, is a very new tool! When it came out, they told us with custom footer templates, to make the following suggestions for it to work. Well, what would happen to those forums that already have the modifications to their footer, but don't have this 'code' or new 'template' in their footer? Do you follow what I'm saying?

Seriously? You can't even edit those?

Well that's a huge disappointment.

The Footer Link feature does not use credits. It is only if you want to add links to the footer.

try this one
Go to overall_footer and find
{PROTECT_FOOTER}

Code:
<div id="pun-foot">
              <div id="pun-about" class="clearfix">
                                          <div id="main-footer" style="text-align: center;">

                                            </div> <!-- </Footer> -->

Hi,

The links to phpBB or punBB will stay as same as the Report an abuse button too.

To remove contact:
AP > General > Messages and emails > e-mails and contact form > Contact form > Activate > NO

To remove stats:
General > Statistic > Who is allowed to view the statistics online ? > Admins

For anything else leave your forum link.

I found the {PROTECT_FOOTER} but the rest of the code you quoted wasn't anywhere to be found. And deleting "{PROTECT_FOOTER}" didn't change a thing.

Hi, the links on the right hand side should not be touched. Not with javascript not with template editing, not with CSS. You should leave them exactly how they are. The only thing you can do is pay to have the forumotion links removed.
Thats what you get with a free host, they must advertise themselves, and brand their products.

However the link on the far left, the 'Home' link can be edited. And its a great place to put copyrights. Personally I think changing that home link to copyrights looks neat and very professional.
Without seeming to advertise my site, look at the footer here: www.avacweb.com

You can use this small Javascript to add some nice copyrights there add it in javascript management to an already exisiting jQuery function:

phpbb3:
Code:

document.getElementById('page-footer').getElementsByTagName('li')[0].innerHTML="YOUR COPYRIGHTS OR LINK";

Punbb, this will replace the jump menu for nice copyrights:
Code:

document.getElementById('pun-about').firstChild.innerHTML="YOUR COPYRIGHTS HERE";

So make yourself some nice copyrights, without breaking forumotions TOS, and without risk of getting your forum banned Wink

Seriously? Well that sucks, no offence but i just thinks that after you've paid to disable the copyrights you should also be allowed to disable/customize them all not just half of them.

And not to mention i've actually seen sites that have removed those links, can't recall the name of them tho.

If you ever download a phpbb3 forum properly, you'll see the immense amount of work that has gone into creating phpbb forums. Phpbb have their copyrights there because of how much work has gone into it, call it their recognition.
That's why it shouldn't be removed.
