Solved Best ways to select a moderator?

Post by Testicles_the_Greek January 23rd 2012, 16:20

Hi

I have a membership of about 150 but only about 25-50 are regulars (about 25 are new over xmas 2011), including three moderators.

However, two of the mods want to step down and I will be administrating less often. Do I;-

  • Draw up a shortlist of possible candidates, based upon trust, time and frequency, and PM each from top choice downwards?
  • Post a poll asking who the members would vote for as a mod?
  • Post asking who wants to moderate and has the time?
  • Another method?

Hi, it is important that you choose your moderators carefully because if you give the wrong people power, they can ultimately destroy your forum. In my opinion, I choose my moderators based on their contribution to the forum and their activity.

I think that out of the options you posted, the first option would be best. Of course, that is entirely up to you. Smile

Thanks for your replies, I'll do just that.

I did think about having a super-mod, but as my mods already have the power to ban and edit etc on all forum boards, it seems the only option is for a mod or admin?

You're welcome. I have something similar: global enforcers and support enforcers. Global enforcers can moderate everywhere whereas support enforcers only moderate certain forums.

As I said before, the choice is up to you. Smile

Is this problem solved?
