Is Forumotion Anti Spam Flawed ?

This is a general question for all, is Forumotion Anti Spam Flawed

I have to say this as I have discovered today a new member with a Mail Server IP on my forum which of course I banned. I have also banned two previous members with spammer IPs when I have caught them on line.
I know the Anti Spam mode seems to filter out Spammer IPs when a new member registers. However in my case I have to activate some new member registrations. It is impossible to police a forum 24 hours a day.

How can a Mail Server Spammer register on a forum Has any other forum admin encountered this

For the record I have banned over 500+ Mail Server Spammer IPs over the past year when checking guest IPs.

There is always going to be spam. Even with a spam system in place.
