Why do I keep getting a "The posted message is too long" message?
Lately, it seems that any time I try to post a reply and add a picture, I get that message about the post being too long and it's usually a shorter post than many others we post.

Hello,
This is impossible since there is a limit for characters in a messages:
Can you show us a screenshot of the message you're getting?

I am the administrator.
I'll see about the posting limit...
EDIT: I don't think there is a limit set? I never use to have this problem. It's a recent problem.

Try turning the WYSIWYG mode off before sending.

The WYSIWYG mode isn't being used.
Where would I see an option for post limit?

In the control panel, it asks if I WYSIWYG turned on by default and is set to "no".
It has always been that way. Is there something else I need to set for it?
Edit: this seems to happen when I copy/paste, but not when I use a link for a picture.... which never use to be a problem either.

Yeah that setting determines if it is on by default.
Meaning it will be on by default for people until they turn it on off.
In the image above you have it turned on. To turn it off press the A/a button above the textbox.

If I turn that off, it doesn't allow me to paste anything there. That is why we were using it, until recently... it allowed us to copy and paste right into the post.
Re: Why do I keep getting a "The posted message is too long" message?
Turning it off turns it into a regular textbox which you can paste things into fine.
For img's you'd have to use IMG BBcode.
The reason for this is that when you use the WYSIWYG mode, your actually typing up HTML without realising which is being sent off and is a LOT longer than it needs to be, which is why you'll likely have better luck with it off.

So... we have to copy a code and use a link, instead of just pasting the picture in? Kind of defeats the purpose, but I guess we can deal with it.

Hi Breezey,
If the 230 error only came up in a once off incident, don't worry about it, if it re-appears often, then it's another issue to it's self
