facebook connect was working. I didn't realise it stopped working until yesterday when a member mentioned it was not working. I've tried since and it's still not working.

facebook connect was set up from the beginning of the forum's existance.

This is the message that the facebook connect screen displays when trying to login:
"An error occurred with SubaruPassion Forum. Please try later".
If I click OK button, my facebook newsfeed appears. It's late tonight but I will check admin page tomorrow to see if there is something I can do to sort this out.
I don't particularly care, but some of my members do like loggin in via facebook. This has been going on a couple of days now.

Hello,

This might be a problem on Facebook side and we'll need to wait for them to fix it mwii

Try resycnchronizing your forum Sync :
https://help.forumotion.com/t50777-resynchronizing-your-forum

And also, try to advice your members to use major browsers such as Firefox & Google Chrome.

resynch didn't fix it. I personally use chrome and most of my members use either chrome or firefox as far as I know.
And to answer the question, no nothing had changed before that happened

Hi,

I believe there's some maintenance going on, on the devs side.
Not sure of it's status, but it did start yesterday, the 17th of May 2012.
There will be a new feature from facebook come out of this, but unfortunately, the login isn't available until the maintenance is done.

The login script did need a bit of updating, so the maintenance was required, otherwise it won't work until they write a new script entirely which would take much longer.

hi,
Just last night users of my forum weren't able to login anymore with fb-connect. Before everything went just fine and everyone could register and login with their fb-account. Now they just get an error ('Invalid locale supplied for locale')
Is there again a maintenance going on?
(It might be useful to know that this forum has been setup a week ago)

greatings,
Jonas

ps. I'm not quite sure if i should post this in this topic or start a new one?

I don't know if this is related or not but I noticed my facebook login button is out of line. Its happened before and in a day or so it fixed itself automatically and not by me. I'm not the least bit concerned about.

I have put a notice up for the users of my forum and I hope it will repair itself in a day...
And otherwise the support seems suberb over here so maybe I'll find someone who can tell me more about this specific error.

thanks,

Jonas

Well for the record and I don't know if this is related to your problem or not but my facebook login button is fixed again automatically without any doings from me just like last time. So my guess is it was related and probably had something to do with facebook's update, but all is fine now as far as the login button alignment is concerned. It never had a login issue thou that has always worked fine.

Try yours now I bet its fixed.

I've learned to ignore things like that for awhile if you made no changes that might have altered something, its usually just an update of some kind.

Good luck to you I hope its working now.

Solved

And indeed - today (after like 30 hours max.) it works fine again. What the problem was is still a mystery but as you said, probably just an update of some sort.
You would expect that facebook announces this kind of things to their 'developer users' but they might be to busy trying to get their stockprice back up Smile And in all honesty even if they did give information about this I wouldn't know where to look for it .

Thanks for the support,

Jonas

Wrong, the code does not need to be replaced it was an update by facebook and the problem was resolved automatically without needing the poster to replace a code. There is no code to replace it is an account number of sorts that doesn't change.
