Solved Anti-Spider Mode

Post by runawayhorses June 5th 2012, 7:19 pm

In the Admin Panel there is a "anti-spider mode". AP>>General>>Security>>Anti-spiders mode (for your pages and the e-mails inside) You have the option to have it active or not active.

This is active on my forum, does this have any effect on the search engine Bots and the SEO or does that just keep known bad ones out?

Also there is an option to disable links for guests. Does that have any effect on search engine BOTs and any effect on SEO?

I am assuming the Anti Spider Mode keeps the bad ones out.

I will also ask Leeloo to provide some inputs in this thread.

Ok thanks, I have kept all the default settings which are anti-spider mode is "active" and the links for Guests are "disabled", I have never changed those settings and would not unless I knew what they did. We'll wait and see what Leeloo says to confirm. But like I said that was the default settings the forum had when I created it and it has not been changed.

thanks Rideem.

Hello,

The Anti-spider mode protects your forum from bad bots but doesn't prevent the search engines from doing their job. Smile

You don't risk to lose your SEO when this option is active.

Thanks !

Thanks Leeloo.

Well I can leave my settings alone then because they are exactly how I want by default since the day I created the forum.

The setting are as follows:

anti-spider mode "active"
links for Guests "disabled"

Thanks everyone for helping in answering these questions.
