    Solved HTML for staff only

Post by RSguideMaker Sat 23 Jun - 9:53

    Hi there,

Is there a way to enable HTML FOR STAFF ONLY on a Forumotion forum? I want to enable it for only staff so that we can share things more easily, but without the risk of the "website hijacking" you can do in HTML. I want to protect my forum from the members using HTML, but I want to allow my staff to use it. Is there a way?

There is no way to enable it only for staff members.

I don't completely understand your concern over website highjacking. Are you concerned someone will embed a redirect code in a post?

Well I don't fully understand the Website Hijacking, but I have been warned by other people about it. Would you recommend enabling it?

Well, I have HTML enabled on my forum and have from day 1 which is 4 1/2 years now and I have never had a problem. For me HTML enabled is useful for everyone that wants to post videos from youtube and prefers to use an embed code as opposed to using the text editors flash code. The HTML embed code you can do more with the design and size of the video. Also HTML is used for embedding flash games and music files. Some people are just more familiar with html and prefer to use it. I see no reason under the sun not to enable it for my forum because we encourage members to post videos (anyway the want to do it) and any other gadget if they want to share something using html. I myself use html for websites so I am familiar with it and like using it.

So for me HTML was a good choice to enable and no one has ever posted anything objectionable or ever tried to highjack anything. If a post is made that had coding I didn't want on the forum I would simply edit the post and take it out or delete the post altogether. I have never heard of a code posting on a forum via HTML that ever highjacked a page or website.

So yes I would recommend enabling HTML.

    Hi, Hello

I have an idea. Since the members don't really know about the HTML pages. & it'll be hard for members to actually guess thr link to it. So why, don't you create a navigation button, and the permissions are only set that admins and staff members can see it? Read this as well.
