Solved Major Issue: Cant see nav bar

Post by Mr. Eddster June 27th 2012, 11:12 pm

Major issue here. This has happened the past 2 days to atleast 5 of our sites users, including me, the head admin. We cant see our nav bar at all when on our computer. I thought it was just my comp, but then others started having issues as well, so its not our computers. Something site related.

It has nothing to do with being a mod/admin/in a special group, its just certain users. For some users theres no problems, and for some there is. Please help!!! This is a major issue! Sad

ADDED INFO: Its just random people from all over the States and Canada. The smileys posted in quotes/replies are also very slow loading, and the page in general is slow loading. But the sigs load quickly, but the page, and smileys dont. This is a very weird issue, and I really, eally hope it gets resolved quickly. Sad

Ask them to clear their cache & check if that makes any difference.

I tried that myself, and it went from being on and off being able to see it to just off, and the browser slowed down considerably. I dont want to risk other users having even more problems.

It isnt the browser, because we all use PC's, and all have different browsers. Ill give you the numbers about browsers/type of computer tomorrow. Wink

Edit: lol it might be the browser, sorry it's 2:15 here, brain= shut down. Wink
All I hope is that this issue gets solved ASAP. Memebers arent too happy about not seeing the nvabar!

Heres our link, and im collecting info on what type of browsers/type of computer our users that are having problems use. Wink

http://sports-forumbuzz.canadian-forum.com/

So far the tally is 6 users that cant see it, and 2 that can see the navbar, and everything's fine. 4 other regs also need to do the tally.
I am trying to think of something that I did to the site that could've caused this, but I am coming up empty. Sad

Thanks a lot !

I can see it, everything's fine for me.

It may have something to do with a browser update, or something like that...

Please let me know when you know much about this Wink

That is sooo weird! Those are 3 browsers I KNOW that are being used, b/c I use IE, and 2 other people used Firefox and Chrome.

Like I said, I really hope we can find a solution. This is extremely puzzling.

My browser: Firefox

I do not see the navigation bar on Mr. Eddster's forum. I can hover over the area, and my cursor will change when it hovers over a button that should be there.

For Leeloo: Yes, I do, and here's the screenshot:
Major Issue: Cant see nav bar Sfb10

slg: Yes, it is very weird, thats why I do not understand it! As Leeloo said, she used Firefox and everything was fine!

Sanket: This is the link for all of the navbars: https://2img.net/i/fa/empty.gif
It has been that link since day 1 when the site was created. Wink

BTW, I made the "Display only images in the navbar" "No", so now all users can atleast see teh text, but I dont want to keep it that way.

https://2img.net/i/fa/empty.gif this means there are no images for them, unless it is in the CSS stylesheet.

Hi Edd!

Previously when I saw this topic in the morning, I saw your Nav bar fine on Firefox and IE9, now, I don't see it at all on either. I dont see the text either. I can follow links by hovering above where they usually are and looking for the /index;register;login ect in the bottom left hand corner of my browser.

Have you put any CSS to define the Nav bar in the CSS, or were they already there with the theme from day 1?

What happens when you reapply the theme from hitskin.com ?

Come to think of it Darren, I have NOT deleted anything from my CSS about the navbar, but I did just go in there 1 day and pressed "submit" on the CSS... that couldve caused it...

Im so confused at this point, I dont know what to do. It could be so many things. Shocked

Edit: Oh man... now I remember... I accidentally pressed "resynch forum", it was not on purpose, I was trying to click the ? on the synch a user, then the page moved down, clicked the wrong box, and I clicked on "save"...

Not good lol...
Double edit: I bet edited the CSS would do something. I searched "nav" and I got all the links, I dont know which one(s) to edit...

If the css thingy doesn't work, then do this.

Display>Pics management
Advanced mode
add the pictures there.

But what pictures? *shrug*
Edit: I tried that, it just covers it up, it doesn't say "Search" "Users" etc, it just shows a picture.
