A problem with CAPTCHA Empty A problem with CAPTCHA

Post by Mr. Ethan Tue 4 Sep - 8:18

Hey there.

I have someone on my board that is blind. He uses a program that reads the words for him. Tonight, while posting he was presented with a CAPTCHA he had to type in if he wanted his message to be sent. I ended up having to log into his account for him, post, and answer the CAPTCHA because his program is unable to do so.

My first question is, what the heck is that? I have never once seen it on any account or board I have used here on Forumotion. I've never once been asked to enter a code to post something. So why is it happening?

Secondly, can I turn it off if it's a security feature? Because it seems like it will present a problem in the future.

Thanks for any help or insight into this you can give me.

A problem with CAPTCHA Empty Re: A problem with CAPTCHA

Sorry, but I can't take a screen shot because it only happens every once in a while he says.

All I can tell you is I wrote up the post, I hit the reply button, and before it would post what I had written it asked me to enter a 5 or 6 character code.

My feeling is that the program he is using to read the text on the screen for him is making the board think he is a spammer. I don't know exactly how it works, so I can't say, but I can't imagine any other explanation. The guy is not a spammer, but when I logged in as him it asked me for the code before I could post, so for some reason or another the board flagged him as a risk.

Anyone have any ideas or know who to ask about this? I just feel bad for him because if this happens again he has to get an Admin to take care of it and can't deal with it himself.

It could also be what is being posted that is causing this.

I posted for the member and there was nothing weird in the message, nothing that would mark him as a spammer.

So if people here don't know why this is happening or if it can be turned off, who can I ask? I thought this was pretty much the place to go for answers.

I just want to find a way to help this member because he has no other recourse if this happens again other than relying on me or someone else to input the code for him... and it didn't even show up for me the first time I tried.
