Private messages
Hi sorry to bother you again. However there are a couple of members that have made accusations that I read the members private messages. I know it is not possible and private means private, I have also been told they are putting these messages on other forums to saying I read the members private messages.
Is there anyway I can get proof that forumotions private messages are really private so I can put the message on my forum. I do not want members to think private messages are not private.
Thank you Maggie

Re: Private messages
I have a suggestion for you and that is ban them .
As you are admin and founder of your site you do not have to put up with this from any member.
I can assure you private messages are totally private (the big clue is in the title).
If you search there is a post by I think Caihlem about private messaging that details it a bit more.
Try searching for private messaging in the search box and then you can post the response to all of your members.
I hope this helps a little.
All the best to you.

Re: Private messages
i have a question can you do automatic messages like when you reigster at the site you automaticly get a "pm" private message like as a welcome message?
Re: Private messages
Of course!
Go to Admin CP--General--Private messages and emails
scroll down until you find the option "Allow welcome private message".
Select it and write underneath the title and the content
of the welcome message.

Re: Private messages
It is possible to read pm's by changing password of the username and logging in as them. I am sure you didnt do that but it is possible. Wht is not possible is reading the emails that are sent from the site so i would reaasure members that these troublemakers are just that, and that whilst pm's can be read in emergencies such as accusations of spamming, you dont do it, and if anyone is really concerned there is always email through the site.
Re: Private messages
Hi Zinex
Thank you for your reply, I really did not know it was possible at all in anyway. I accept they are private and would not like mine read if they are private. But if a person did read the messages by changing that members password there would be no way that member would be able to sign in again if there password was changed. This person never once said she had a problem with her password. She only accused me after she left. I think troublemaker was the right word to use.
Thank you Maggie
