The problem should be fixed now.

A DNS change has caused this problem. Now, the base DNS configuration has been restored.

Please clear your cache and cookies and check if this issue is fixed, as it should be.

If it's not, here are some different operations that can help to fix the issue :

• Close your browser
  
• Reboot your Internet connection
  
• Clear the DNS cache with an ipconfig/flushdns process (How to do this ?)
  
• If that still doesn't work, save your current DNS info somewhere else and try to change temporarily your DNS for the DNS provided by Google (How to do this ?)
  
  If after all these operations, you still have the loading issues, please provide us :
  
  
• The forum(s) concerned
  
• A screenshot of the error message
  
• Your ISP

Firefox can't find the server at achatworld.darkbb.com.





Check the address for typing errors such as

Why should we have to change our DNS's or create proxies when this is CLEARLY a forumotion issue. I'm about ready to switch my forum to a different provider, this is ridiculous.

Some users were affected yesterday. However since your "fix" different users have now been affected, including myself (clearing he cash, cookies, etc did not work)

Error: Cannot find site.
ISP: a whole variety as our users are based all over the world.

The only temporary solution thus far has been to use OpenDNS as a server.

No server down, just a glitch with the DNS.

If you don't want to change your DNS while waiting, so you need to be patient.

The issue is fixed since more than 10 hours, that's clearly a cache problem (from ISP or DNS cache).

Try from another computer if that's possible to check what I say.

As did I and I made a mass post in our Facebook group. There are still many people unable to access the forum after doing the things asked. I'm sorry to be rude, but Monday's are very busy days in our forum with new challenges going up and voting going up... and without myself or my co-owner being unable to get in, we can't do these things.

Many of our forum members are not internet-savvy. Asking them to change their ipconfig, and so on, will be too much to ask. Are you saying there is nothing more forumotion.com can do to address this situation?

We are in the process of deciding whether or not to migrate our forums to another provider. We all love forumotion.com, but our members need to be able to access our forums on a consistent basis.

Your forum works fine,maybe they have problems with internet..

Nope no problems...They can acces all other internet-sites....They are contacting med via facebook to tell that they cant acces the forum.

Just a little note to all members that are still getting this problem.

If you are in the UK a little fix that should fix your problem...

1, Turn your modem off by the plug for 2 Minuets,
2, If your with BT / talk talk or Sky and your internet is running through your phone lines unplug your phone line at the wall then clear your browser history and reset your computer/ laptop

3, Plug your phone line back in.
4, Plug your modem back in and wait 1 more minuet for your modem to re-boot then turn your computer back on and try your sites again.

Note If you have Virgin Media then Clear your cache and then reboot your modem 3 times and the problem should be fixed.

My forum has been going down all night (I am in Australia)...it is working for me at the moment but I am getting emails from members who cannot get on from the other side of the world...I left a message earlier & was told to come here instead & my post was promptly locked.....well I can't work out what the answer is from this thread...obviously you have server problems...can you please advise if this is being looked at by your IT dept. or what could be going on?

I cannot open forumotion too and something is wrong, and is not our computers.

I understand, but the steps are very different, there's no need to do all the steps I provided.

Reboot the Internet connection or your modem isn't so difficult to do I think

Hi Poppie,
An easy fix for most is to clear your cache on the computers and a little reset of your modems should fix the problem you may have to do this one or more times but this should work for all your members.

Troubleshooting:

Reset of modems:
remove the power plug and wait 1 min and plug it back in wait 1 or 2 mins for the modem to re-boot.

How to Tell your members:
Once you have got in to your forum send a news letter with a copy of my steps and then most if not all your members will get an Email.

The strange thing is that the some members, with the same ipad (or iphone), connected with 3g it doesn't find the server, connected in WIFI home ADSL finds the server.

And, with an IPAD or IPHONE what we must do for solve the problem?

Leeloo, you missed my point. It doesn't matter if I, the forum admin, have taken the steps. What matters is forum members are being expected to follow some pretty technical steps just so they can access their forums again. It may not sound technical or challenging to you, but please remember the instructions will sound like Greek to some of my members.

I perfectly understood what you meant.

Nobody asked you to ask your members to do some technical operations.
If you look at my list of possible way to fix this issue, it goes from the easiest way to the most complicated way to check your caches.

Sometimes, clearing the cache of the computer is enough. Sometimes it's not.
So I must provide all the possible operations to the members, they're free to try what they want to.

I have tryed all the above....

2 dayes ago I couldnt log on. Yesterday I was able to log in. Today I am not able to log in and further more I am not able to find either Forummotion homepage or this site. That makes it hard to get help.

I am on another pc now and that is why I am able to write now.

Many of my members are having trouble on/off....me too.
