Should we host through servimg for unlimited space in galleries?

It seems like there are a lot of picture hosting sites out there, in fact for hosting pictures as a link in posts there is a button to upload to servimg. Also in the admin panel you have the servimg account set up. Why can't this account be used to host the pictures for the gallery? This would give us unlimited space instead of this 10MB restriction. I think that would be a great addition, and something probably everybody using the gallery module would love to see.

that sounds like a very good idea. this issue bugged me a few times already and therefore i fully support this suggestion.

EDIT: furthermore i would say, that generally url's should be accepted - servImg or any other hosting service...

Excellent idea! This would be a great addition to many forums. I voted 'yes'!
I see someone already voted 'no'. Too bad they didn't leave a reason why. blackeye

oh oops.. i started this thread elsewhere...

=================================

This currant host is horrible..

I would willingly pay anything for extra photos to be hosted on my forum ~ but the extra photos expire?

I'd rather have no gallery, than one that can delete itself if an extension is bought..

also ~ you can host all the photos you could ever want on the net for FREE ~ why should we only get 100 photos on the forums, and need to constantly pay to get more???

image shack - no bandwidth or storage restrictions !!!
imgplace - no bandwidth or storage restrictions
photobucket - 10,000 photos

why don't we host with these companies?

there are countless free image host companies out there, ~ why aren't those used?

yeah~ i know what you're going to say... make an account with them and link to them..
but the company forumotion uses is embedded and member restricted..

forumotion is so amazing.. why did they chose such a crappy image host?

Agreed. It seems that when this gallery was made, they forgot to consider this few things. Or maybe they did. And they want to make money on this? Hope i am wrong. In any case i vote for yes! I hope this one will be considered in the upcoming changes in our forum Very Happy Very Happy Vote for this guys! Wink

I don't really need a Gallery in my forum, but I say no anyway; There's credits in which you can pay for, and without these credits, forumotion could be broke, even though a choice for unlimited pics would be a good idea to buy with credits.

I am not against paying for credits.

But how about an unlimited one time payment so you can use the gallery from there on after? Make it big so that forumotion can handle it but at the same time, allow us to do it. The problems above make it clear this gallery is so much of a hassle I have gotten rid of it on my site.

I am loving the forumotion site except for the gallery. I'd be happy to pay for one, but not if I have to keep re-purchasing it every month. It would be much nicer if I could just subscribe to a gallery level (silver, gold, platinum...) and have my account charged automatically by the month or pay in advance for the year. Along with optional premium service, I'd love to see more options like the ability to upload your image to multiple albums by adding keywords or selecting multiple albums. How about user gallery links showing in member profiles also?

Would be good, yes. But - advisable to get the current and ongoing problems with Servimg resolved first of all.
