Forum deletion
Can you delete my forum whikkmeetc.forumotion.com, please.
I followed the whole procedure 3 times, but the provided validation link doesn't do anything except sending me back to the administration panel.
Thanks.

Hello,
Make sure you're logged in on your forum as the founder when you click the validation mail, I suggest you to try again and see if it works.

Re: Forum deletion
I received the validation Email.
Before using the link I logged in on the forum as administrator (founder).
Then I used the link in the validation Email and it send me to the home-tab of the administration panel once again.
Nothing is deleted, forum is still there.
So, what's next ?

Re: Forum deletion
You have to stay logged in your forum after you do this or it will not delete .
Open your email>>log in to your forum>> delete the forum as it says to>> do not leave or log out of your forum>>refresh/check email and click the verification link.

I suppose you need to try it every 24 hours then, we don't have a pro admin to do the deletion, sorry.

Re: Forum deletion
May I remind you that between the DELETE-action on the administration panel and the reception of the validation email there is a delay of up to 10 hours.kirk wrote:

I cannot prevent my computer of going asleep, which may be counting for a logout-login action on the forum when I wake it up again.
But alright, I will try once more, although I think there should be an easier way to do this.

Re: Forum deletion
What? 10 hour delay from what?
it should not take long at all to receive the email so not sure what you mean by a 10 hour delay.
mean you just type in the word DELETE the page will come up and say check your email, Do not close that page, leave it open. then go to your email and click the validation link.. DONE.. It should not really take long at all to receive the email, but i am not sure what kind of email, speed or set up you have either?
may be you have to wait at least 24 hours before you can try it again like joe has said..
Other then that we would have to pass it on to a pro-admin to see if they can delete for you.
This is all it says on the forum.I dont see anything that mentions 10 hour delay?

- Spoiler:
Write DELETE to DELETE YOUR FORUM :
You will receive an e-mail asking you to click on a link for the final deletion :
Your forum, your members, your messages... Everything will be deleted without further notice.
If your forum has a substancial community,
Instead of deleting it, you can transfer the administration to someone else.
Please use this option only if you are totally sure...

Re: Forum deletion
Yes Kirk, you read this right, up to 10 hours delay !
I can see that the forumotion servers did send the validation-email almost immediately, but it takes Yahoo up to 10 hours to deliver it to me (and my mail-account checks for new mail every minute).
So, I did a new deletion this morning, I will keep the page open and try for my computer not to go asleep until I receive the validation mail.
Then hopefully the link will work.

Still nothing from the deletion this morning (about 4 hours now).
Not happy about this Yahoo-mail service.

Re: Forum deletion
Well your forum will never keep you logged in that long.
I think it only keeps you in for 60 min without activity .
So I think the only way will be for a pro admin to do it.
And they may need some info from you first to confirm the forum is indeed yours.
Not saying it would not be,but they will need to be sure for security reasons.
I mean we have seen people try all kinds of things to get others forms closed deleted etc. So they would just have to confirm it is yours if they are to do it.
I am on my iPod now, but will foreword this to the godfather and edit pro- admin icon for this thread so he may see it before I get to send it off.

Re: Forum deletion
Well, when I look at the forum on another browser-tab, it says that I'm still online as administrator.
So, maybe I still have to try the validation when it arrives.

Re: Forum deletion
Aaaah, sorry to say, but it didn't work.
I received the validation mail just now and I could see that the ID-number in the link was exactly the same as the ID-number in the open page on my browser (which appeared after the deletion-command), but still the link in the validation-email send me back to the home-tab of the administration panel and nothing more.
So, I guess, call in the 'motherlord of admins' to fix this problem.
Thanks.

Re: Forum deletion
Just a hunch but remove all your members and all the forums and posts and then try again.
I had this problem once and found removing all the account's and posts helped
