Solved Finding out who has requested to join a group.

Post by buggs June 7th 2013, 8:43 am

Hi,

I'm the forum founder and admin and it's serving us very well so far.

However I received an e-mail telling me someone had requested to join a group and I clicked the link. After logging in I was taken to the member user list but there was no mention of who had requested anything. How or where do I find out who made the request and how do I allow or disallow the request?

Thanks.

You can click on the group on the legend, there you can approve the members who requested to join the group.

Yes, that's the same page the link in the e-mail sent me to but all I see is me as the group moderator and the list of members already in the group. There's no section separate showing someone not already in the group asking to join it and there's no name in the e-mail either.

It has to be there, if someone requested to join. I just checked it, works on my test forum. You can test it yourself, use a test member account & click on join group. Then login using your admin account & check in that group.

Strange...

Maybe they requested to join the group at the same time I confirmed their registration and it's asking me to confirm soneone who's already in the group.

Would you mind describing where on the member-list page the requester is i.e. what's below and above it on the page please?

It is not on the memberlist page. Its on the groups page, in that specific group.

Something like this.

Yes sorry, that's what I meant. I'm on my full member list with me as group moderator at the top and the group members listed immediately below showing number of posts and the various ways to contact the members across the top.

Still no visible requests to join. I think I must've already confirmed them at the same time the request was made.

P.S. Oh right, I just saw the link you added, the request will only appear in the administration panel, not on the actual forum page? I assumed the forum because that's where the e-mail took me when I clicked it.

Yep although not quite as you said.

The admin group wasn't allowing me to change it to an open group, only closed or hidden were allowed. Instead I tried a test account joining the moderator group and that worked fine, the request appeared at the bottom of the forum moderator group list.

I'll assume I'd just confirmed them without seeing the request and all is sorted.

Thanks.
