In progress (Only Topic!) New Editor

Post by TWYLYGHT 12/6/2013, 15:34

First topic message reminder :

Is there a way to opt of this new editor? If not is there a way to at least set the smiley's back to the old way. They are hard to see even with the mouse over feature. Any member we have with poor eye sight will not be able to use them. I ware glasses and it's hard for me to make head nor tails on the smileys.

Thanks in advance for a quick reply.

Edit:
A few solutions for the problems.

Currently the editor has bugs related to posting via mobile operating systems. Will advise not to use them, until they are fixed. Regret the Inconvenience.

Regards,
Sanket

To add an image to the text editor, add this to your CSS:
Code:
 .sceditor-container iframe, .sceditor-container textarea {
          background-image:  url("IMAGE'S URL") !important;
          background-position:  center center !important;
          background-repeat:  no-repeat !important;
    }

Change the "fff6c7" for your color. Wink

Dear Forumotion Staff,

I know this might sound "picky", but I'm used to getting awesome service from you guys since 2008! I was wondering if you can restore this color at the new editor:

(Only Topic!) New Editor - Page 8 2uppgqw

If this is not possible, can we get an option to switch back to the old editor? It really makes a difference for the branding of our clan, because we've been using this color for years.

Best Regards,
jOjO

I already tried that, the problem is that it changes color for blockquotes in posts but not for blockquote in quick reply. I noticed that blockquote property for quick reply box is located in external css hosted on illweb... Now, is it possible to change that somehow? scratch

.sceditor-emoticons > div > img{left:auto!important;top:-38px!important;right:-8px;background:#FFF;border:1px solid #DDD;padding:5px}

This removes the shake, removes the double image, puts in the smileys at full size, provides a scroll bar, allows you to select more than one so most problems with smileys are fixed. Well done forum posting team - I shall go back and add some kudos.

I think that your BBCode for each smiley will need a colon either side of the text or the spaces between them will be removed if they are quoted and they will run into a single text string which will not produce images

So if your smileys were called heart kiss love they would be rendered into images when the post was made but if it was quoted it would become heartkisslove which would show as text.

I think putting colons back in smiley BB code is an OK price to pay

This code works perfect for the smileys on my board :DThank you very much!

I love but hate the new color picker, before the update i had a really nice cool one inplace that had nice bright colors to pick from,

Now the color picker has nothing but dull faded colors that really look sorry for them self, and the colors the members have used in the old posts are now not working or they just look a mess. please add a better color picker as the one you have now is crap.(Only Topic!) New Editor - Page 8 Guish2

Also give us a way to place a color background to the text box i hate the white...

@Furious-Angel
And the code was added directly in the template or in the CSS file of your website? I have tested using directly in the template, by the "style" code.

Code:

There is no way to disable the new editor. However, you can switch editor modes by pressing the last button on the editor.

No... not that.
The editor is, by default, in editor mode (where you can see colors, smilies etc) and I saw I code that you could disable it.
I just don't remember where is.

Is there a way to fix the errors when resizing the text window? Sometimes it just keeps getting bigger when I try to make it smaller or it jumps around on its own, so I can't even grab it or it freezes. It does this on an ipad as well, just keeps on getting bigger and moving the page around even when I freshly load a page.

Willyrka: The editor is still in BETA mode so it may have small bugs. Not to mention that it isn't optimised for tablet computers.

Thank you for your answer. I'm sorry to pester you again, but will it be optimized for tablet computers and smart phones (it doesn't even appear on android devices, so all they have is a blank text box even in classic view)? This is the only real issue I have with this new editor as there are so many mobile users out there.

Willyrka: No problem, you are welcome! I assume it will be, yes. The team are currently gathering feedback from the community in order to correct the bugs that are present at the moment. I don't know how long exactly this will take, but since quite a lot of users use portable devices, I would assume not TOO long. I hope this answers your question! Very good

Hey Base,

Those options were removed as The Godfather said these options have become obsolete and therefore were deleted. Info take from this thread: https://help.forumotion.com/t124616-new-editor-for-forumotion-forums

The Godfather wrote:(Only Topic!) New Editor - Page 8 Icon_exclaim 1. With the integration of the new editor, two options become obsolete in your admin panel and therefore were deleted:

  • Enable extended message editor
  • Enable WYSIWYG by default in messages
