Using a forum for Classified ads?

Has anybody or does anybody have a classifieds area on their forum? I am trying to start a free classifieds site for part of the state I live in (not the whole USA). Do you think this would work? Or is this a bad idea? Am I breaking any forumotion rules? lol, don't wanna do that by any means. I have seen other forums (not forumotion forums) have classified ad areas on there websites. The classified ads website that we have in our state (well I can't put it nicely), anybody in our area has to travel 70 miles most of the times to go buy an advertised item (through a certain website that I will not name). Seems like all the sellers don't wanna wait for somebody to travel, they only wanna deal with people that our local to them. Either way it goes, I just hope this forum doesn't get out of hand, or in the other hand I don't want it to be a complete failure. I made up "business cards" to advertise the furom, so I can get people interested in it.
