In progress Added x to links in automatic forum mails

Post by Grendelier on Mon 12 Aug 2013 - 16:48

Hi!

I recently created a free forum on forumotion. When a new user signs up, I get an email to notify me. This mail contains a link to the user's profile. At first, this was working fine. But today, the link to a newly created account was wrong. The text was still okay, but the actual link had an added x to the name.

So, I decided to sign up for this support forum. After signing up I received an activation mail. This mail contains an activation link. But this link was malformed as well. (And not working because of it!) It looks like there is a bug in the way forumotion handles the creation of links for forum related mails.

To show what I mean, I will give the link I received.

It reads
Code:
http://help.forumotion.com/act?u=[number]&ak=[number]
but it actually links to
Code:
http://help.forumotionx.com/act?u=[number]&ak=[number]
Is this bug known?

Hi,

We'll have to let one of the Administrators check this thread out, since they're the ones who have completely access to this. Unfortunately, I can't report this right away since it appears that you are only having this issue. Let's give it a day or two; that way we can see if it's a global problem or not, if not I'll report it.

Attention!
- Please provide your forum URL at all times.
- When the issue is solved, please y it as solved.

Thank you for your response, Sir Chivas.

The problem went away not long after I wrote this. Newer signups generated a correct link again. It may have been a temporary problem. (It could still be good to check it out, so the problem does not appear again randomly. But it is not urgent.)
