Emoticons on mobile devices

My users have reported that they do not have access to emoticons on their mobile devices with the new editor. This occurs when using both the mobile version of the site and the "classic" version of the site. I hear about it from them daily. Is there a fix for this in the works? We had emoticons with the old editor and I would have thought that this issue would be taken care of by now since the editor was released months ago.
