When is the new forumotion update?

There is an update going on at the moment. When it is finished it will be announced like all the other updates.

they never tell us until it happens, never tell us what they are working on etc. they just give the update to us

I think where mods are concerned its a case of having to adapt them so it wont be easy to give a clear indicator of when to expect the update to be finished, normally its a day or two.

So maybe the update is coming about 1-2 days?

They can't give any date. We don't know if there will be one this week or next month.

As I run a phpBB2 forum I host myself and have average PHP/MySQL knowledge, I can tell you that Forumotion's system, even if it's based on phpBB's script (that's why the copyright notice on the footer), has been heavily MODified, and it's the same for the database structure. The MODs made for a phpBB, as it is, isn't made to be installed directly on forumotions. The PHP codes and the HTML codes of templates need to be adapted first to make it suit with Forumotion's code.

To explain you : When you install a MOD on a phpBB forum, the zip pack contains a file which gives the directions for the modifications to do on files the MOD modifies. For each code addition or change, they give you a piece of code to find, then it tells you to replace this piece or to place an extra piece of code before or after this piece of code it told you to find.

If the piece of code you have to find is already modified or removed by another MOD, it might cause compatibility problems since their might be syntax errors in the structure when you try to install this new MOD.

Well we got the update and it is garbage. Yet another update without any of our suggestions.

I am sorry this one is the worst we have had yet. The security update should have been there the entire time! Sorry but i cant apploud for this update.

What is this about the front office memberlist, memberlist group?

Please give us a clear reason why no suggestions we have given have been added again. Not the usual lame excuse, such as the tech believed these were needed more.

Why couldnt we at least get a update that fixed all the problems of the vchatbox. Or any other the suggestions that have over 20-25 members thaT VOTED YES

Please stay calm, techs have schedules and they needed to finish those updates before to start with users suggestions.

We made a brainstorming last week, and selected all major suggestions from each country that were providing by members (many English suggestions were picked out, as they were really interesting and useful)

A list of priorities were made, including only updates asked by members.
That surely will please you all!

But I think there is no need to criticize the work of techies who do their best to satisfy you, by making regular updates (unlike most of other services who don't even do anything to make their service better!).

Anyway, all next update will concern suggestions you made

I'm pleased with the new updates that forumotion has made and like Typlo said has continually given us over time. Unlike alot of other services out there.
How ever small or big these updates are, they are all very usefull and helpful features to have I think. I'm sure that both Staff and the Techs work very hard to see that we the members get what we would like. It really all may be just a matter of time. I guess we will just have to wait and see what else is in store for us.
