You can add the link to the index on the page if you are not using the header and footer.

If the HTML page is set as homepage, Anything we use goes back to the homepage. We've tried the url /forum /forumlist /index /index.php

None of them work.

No. I've set up a new HTML homepage and now there's no way that I can find to see the forum index. I used to just have a link that would add /forum, but that doesn't work anymore."

Well, for some reason I can't change my forum link on here but I'll provide it here: http://www.campbellcountymb.com/

Basically I'm asking how can I see the forum index when I have an HTML page without forum headers setup as the homepage.

Did you create that page?  If you did not, you need to ask the person who did to add the link to to the forum.

P.S. If you brought a domain name?

One of the members of my team did. The problem is we don't know which link to add. We were wanting to link to the forumotion index with all the forums on the main page where we currently have our chat link. That way people can still see it till we have the rest of the new site together.

If the HTML page is turned off, the url I provided above will load the index with the forums on there. We don't want to have them built into the HTML page but rather to be able to link to what the normal index looks like. Is that not possible?

Regarding to the author's question: are you trying to just place the Categories & forums itself on the homepage without showing the banner and footer?

Solved Re: Link to Index From Homepage

Post by Rogo October 30th 2013, 2:11 am

When you go to our forum at the root domain name, usually you'd see the all the forums listed on the index page with headers and such. But since we have set an HTML page as the homepage, that is no longer the case. You now see the HTML page that we made. And that HTML page has the default headers turned off. So the challenge is now, how can we view the forum index so we can get around our board?

A few years back, we were able to do this. But since Forumotion changed the URL format, it has changed.

When you have this page activated what is the link to the index?

Open to 2 windows,   one with the HTML page and one without the page.  Check the link for the index.

Open two windows/browser tabs.  One will just be your forum without the page.  The other window will have the page activated.

If you mean get the url when it's not activated and again when it is, they are both the same.

That is the very question we want answered.

We can't get to the index to see the link. I've gone to a topic I have bookmarked and clicked on the link to get to the Index, it just brings me to the homepage that we setup. If we open the index when the homepage is disabled, the URL is the root domain name.

You bought a new domain, correct? Since it was on the process of removing the free domain, which I believe it was .forumotion.com, it may cause difficulties to redirect the page to its index. However, since now it's working, is this consider solved?

Solved Re: Link to Index From Homepage

Post by Rogo October 30th 2013, 3:52 am

Apparently it doesn't work for everyone.

We have had the domain 'campbellcountymb.com' for over a year now. It has worked for us with no problem in the past. Going to that domain takes you to the homepage that we created with the HTML pages. The index still wants to be accessed through that URL as well. But for some reason, going to campbellcountymb.com/forum now works for one of our members. So the answer to our question is that URL. However, it won't work for the rest of us right now.
