Externally purchased domain IPO free domain

Hiya ...  a few months ago our forum was offered a free domain from forumotion & we accepted it.  Since then we've changed our forum focus, so the free domain that we have from foumotion doesn't match the new focus.

I've purchased a new domain name (externally) & would like to use it in place of the current domain.  I'd like the new domain to not just redirect to the forumotion sub-domain (forumname.forumotion.com), but be the actual domain for the forum.  I do have access to change anything with the domain, so if I need to change the name servers, it's not a problem for me.
