Have to delete profile when banning? Please help

I banned some of my members, and is wondering if I have to delete there profile also, or is it allowed to keep the profile??
May someone please help?

admin. panel >users panel click on name of that member that you want to delete and at the and of the page you have this option.

thats up to you if you wanna keep the profiles. But if u want to delete them, why not just delete the account/profile first. That will save you a lot of time.

'Cause if you delete the profile/account of the member you wanna ban, it'll clear them out and they wont be able to log on to your forum anyway.

I dont see why not. Ive banned folks from my forum b4 and kept the profile. Thats because if a want to unban them, they dont have to re-register. I havent seen anything in the TOS where it says its not allowed to keep the profiles ya know

Well, that is the reason why I also want to keep the profile..
But now I've got a mail from one of our banned member, that demands me to delete her profile, If I dont she says that she will contact my host and get my forum deleted??

So, I need a clear answer, so that I dont get in trouble for keeping the profile.

I understand that. But honestly, I dont think its a problem keeping the profiles. I dont see where the problem is.

But if I were you, like u said, Id wait til an MOD/ADMIN logs on and answers the question for you. But iont think its a problem though

as far as i am aware, you are not obliged to delete her profile and failing to do so will not have your forum deleted.

However, this member could take it further should she choose, and consult a solicitor, if you havent got it specified in your rules that memberships will not be deleted you could be made to remove it, outwith forumotion. Also on a moral level, when a member chooses to join your community, it does not mean you own them, everything they type is technically theirs by copyright. If i was in your situation, i would change all details of the profile and switch allow email and allow newsletter to no so it is just an empty account. This is so you can email the banned member and explain what you have done, but not lower your member acount.

cause like I said... I normally keep the account/profile on my site in case if I want to unban them.

Normally when I ban a member, I email them and explain what they did wrong. Then we come to an agreement that it wont happen again, so I unban them. That way, they dont have to re-register and they can keep they're post count

Why in the world do you want to keep their profiles if they dont want to have their profile there anymore?
Do you meen that people dont have the rights to diside themselves?

If I am banned from a place....without doing something wrong.... then I most deffinitly do not want to have my name and information on that forum.
And if I can`t stand for the way the administrators treat their members, and the valiues the administrators have.... then I most deffinitly do NOT want my profile there anymore !!

And if I tell the Administrators my self that I dont want to be a member there anymore because of these things.... then why in the world is it so important for the administrators in that forum to keep my username in the memberslist??
I really think the members theirselves should be able to deside if they want to be DELETED !!
It`s something called respeckt for other people !!! I think everyone`s having a Forum should have that in mind !!

If my son or daughter where members of a Forum without my knowledge, and I found out..... then I would do everything in my power to get their profile and username DELITED !!! That is a thing we have to think about here too....

So my question is : Do you realy meen that an Administrator should keep the profile and username of a banned member (or a member who dont want to be a member anymore) when the member dont want to? For whatever reason??
And also .... What should a member who wants to be deleted but the admin refuse, do? WHERE can they turn for help?

I do NOT see why a Forum should hav the rights to do what they wants !!
It should be some moraly rules !!

And I meen that an Administrator must have atleast that much respect for their members that they delete their username and profile if they do not want to be there anymore, OR are banned..... Why should the admin be able to bann them, but still keep the username and profile?

correct, all personal data have to be deleted IF the user wants so. If an admin refuses to, you can contact forumotion.

Okay.... Thank you very much for the answer.... I think this is a seriuosly question, and that Administrators in Forums should have that much respect for their members.... If not, I think it`s a disrespectful and a very low Forum ....
