The best way i could see this work and the way id like to see it work is if someone posts a message on a topic, than tries to again it gives them some sort of message saying double posting isnt allowed, and than they wont be able to post another message until someone else does

Maybe not to disable it but wait 30 seconds to a minute.Sometimes double post is needed.

I agree that double posts are needed sometimes. If I need to answer two completely different questions, I'd rather do that in two posts rather than in one. I think there are times people need to post twice. Plus, if I have already read their post and they edit it, I may not see their edited comments, at least not until somebody else posts and even then only if I look back up at their post. I don't see a problem with double posts.

ETA: I would say that setting a time limit in between double posts could be useful, but getting rid of the all together I don't like. The time limit would have to be configurable though, not just an on off type of thing.
