#827 Duplicate Emails - New Member Joins

Hi there

Everytime a new member joins the forum, I receive two emails that say exactly the same thing. Can someone direct me to where this is coming from. I'd like to receive one email.

It could be just a glitch in the system. Is this the first time it happened?

It's not the first time. I recently took over the forum as admin, I opened a new gmail account, and I've always received two emails.

I can't find anywhere that gives the choice of being notified when a new member joins.

Administration Panel > Users & Usergroups > Users > Users Options

How much admin accounts do you have on that board.

Maybe you receive notifications for your old account and for the founder account if you gave same email ??

We set up a username Admin, and I kept my own username GuardianAngel, as mod. I opened a new gmail account for the forum and changed it in the AP.

The old Admin is still active. That person left, hasn't been heard of since last August but we kept it active. We don't know what happened to her. The old Admin has a different email.

From what you are saying I'm probably getting two emails, from GuardianAngel and Admin?

Administration Panel > Users & Usergroups > Users > Users Options and send email notification upon new user is ticked for Admin.

But where would it be for GuardianAngel? I would imagine if there is one, I can uncheck that option for GA and that would resolve the problem? I've checked Administration Panel > Users & Usergroups > Groups and a few other areas, but I don't see where that option is to send emails to mods.

1/ Since you have only one admin account, you should not receive double notifications.
2/ It is the same place you ticked admin. Since admin is ticked and GA is mod you should not receive notifications of new users for GA account.

Well then change the email of one account and see if you get two similar emails.

Are you hitting the 'Send' button twice?
If so the system changed in recent years to say that if the button is hit twice, it will send twice.

It is not possible to register with an email already used. But once registered you can change email through ACP and then you can use same email on several accounts.

I changed the GA account to another email and will see if that works.

The system sends the notice, I receive an email that there was a new user. Therefore I'm not sending anything manually.

That is what happened, I was already registered as GA a few years back, new account Admin created with the old email. I then changed both accounts to the new email. Thanks for clarifying using the same email on different accounts.

I changed the email for Guardian-Angel, rank is a mod. This morning I had a notice of a new user, and received one email and not two. Somehow it's coming from the Guardian-Angel email?

I did not receive a  notice of a new user in the new GA email.

I don't see anywhere for GA that says to send an email to a new user.

We can mark this as problem solved, unless there is something else I'm missing.
