Moderating
Hey,
I have a special group called 'moderators' on my forum and they moderate my forum but the problem I've hit is that I've unchecked the option for them to make a global announcement yet they still are able to make one... How to solve this?

Re: Moderating
You'll need to do this for all forums. So even thought you've unchecked it for one you'll need to uncheck the option for all forums.

Re: Moderating
Are some of the members of this group also in the administrator group?

Ehh yea I am but I am the Group leader
I've also tried to make another person a group leader, but with no success (the person wasn't member of higher groups)

Re: Moderating
If the members in question are in the administrator group then they will still be able to create global announcements.

The account I tested with was not a member of any higher groups with the ability for a global announcement.

Post a screenshot of the permissions of a forum that has the issue.

Re: Moderating
So only managers and administrators can create them? Could some moderators be in the manager group?

Re: Moderating
Nope they aren't except for my main account that controlls the forum (being group moderator).
I've tried it on another account that was only member of the following groups : Member, Veteran, Moderator

Re: Moderating
Have you ask the moderators about this, or have you just tested yourself?

Re: Moderating
So they can make a global announcement that will appear in the whole forum? Is there any section that they can create a global announcement in? If yes, then it will appear in the whole forum.

Do you mind sending me a private message with a test admin account so that I can see this for myself?

Re: Moderating
Thank you for the private message.
I have taken a look at the permissions and everything seems to be in order but members in the group 'Moderator' are still able to create global announcements. I will pass this onto our pro admin to take a look at.

What do you mean reset the account? If you mean the test account then you can delete it because it's no longer needed.

@Buttercup I have tested this on my personal forum and no group without the permission can make any global announcements. It is working properly.

So this topic does not automatically get pruned to the garbage, you will need to bump it every two days.

Re: Moderating
Thank you
I had tested it on a test account and could make a global announcement, even with only having the account subscribed to the moderators group.
