Points is subtracted when reputation subtracted?

I would like to know points value is subtracted with the reputation is subtracted?
Is there formula for it?

points - subtracted points = new points

I reset Points of a member to 0.
Then his reputation is subtracted by the other members. E.g: -13
Then he asked me why his points is - 3000?
It seems when then subtraction <= - 10, it subtracts points alot.
So, I am confused about the formula for the subtraction.

This example. Because - vote > + vote, it is -13! I don't know what u means when asking "how many - votes and how many + votes"

you can not change the Votes you can only change the points if you want to reset the points to 0 just type 0 in the box and then save then there points will be removed if say the member has 9000 points and you want to take say 1000 away you have to type in the box 8000 and then save if you type in -1000 then in the profile it will come up as -1000 in there profiles that means they are -1000 points not that there points will remove 1000 points from there 9000 points.
