user can only join one group at a time

Is there a setting that I can set to disallow member from joining groups more than one?

As far as I know, there is not. Unless you're willing to make the groups closed and add members manually.

If users join an open group themselves, it's just a request that has to be approved or denied by the group moderator, right? So just deny it if the user is already member of another group?

That is correct.

However, you can prevent users from sending multiple requests to join open groups is all. So if that is what you wanted then you would need to make each group a closed group, then users would have to contact a group moderator or some other person desiginated for that job, them they would need to added manually to the group.


Yes though, if it is an open group a request will get sent to the group moderator, where they either say yay or nah to it. The user will not automatically just become a part of a group because he attempts to join it.
