Post by Gimpy Cat July 11th 2015, 1:14 am

Hi

My forum gallery reached capacity, I had 120mb and it said it was 100% used so I purchased 200mb more storage plus 12mnths time. I have also deleted a number of albums in the gallery and members have been deleting images in their albums.

Currently my storage is showing as 220mb so it seems to be missing 100mb I purchased and it also says I have used 81%. If it was 100% full on 120mb and I purchased 200mb more, then how can it be 81% full and only 100mb of the storage I purchased is showing?

You are given 20mb free storage space.  You said that you purchased 100mb which gave you 120mb.  Then you brought 220mb.  Well exactly you only purchased 120 more mb because you exactly paid for the 100mb you already had plus 120 more.

When you purchase space and buy more space, you are paying for the space you purchased before, too.

I started out with 120mb that was 100% used for the gallery, so I bought another 200mb to add to it, I already had 120mb not 20mb.

So ok, I have 220mb and I had to buy the first 100 I already had again according to your explanation. How come then, when 120mb was 100% used, that now 220mb is 81% used? That doesnt make sense at all. I should still have 100mb free space for the gallery, not 19%

When you create your forum, you are given 20 free mb.

So after you used the 20mb, you purchased 120mb?  Then purchased another 220mb?

Ive had the forum for just on 7yrs. I had in the past already purchased 100mb to add to the 20mb free storage giving my gallery 120mb of storage. The gallery yesterday gave a message saying its full and storage at 100%, so I have purchased another 200mb to add to it.  It now shows that I have 220mb of storage but purchasing the 200mb has only given me 19% more storage.

Instead of being 100% storage used, after buying 200mb its now saying 81% storage used. I dont see how I can only have 19% free when I just bought all this extra storage. Thanks

Thanks for that but its not my question/problem. I have added 12mnths storage space, valid until August 2016 so time is not an issue. How come when I added 200mb extra, of which 100 was already used and I replaced, the 100 remaining has only freed up 19% space?

The 220mb covers the 81%, so the 19% is covered by the plus 100mb.

I just dont understand Im sorry, are you saying that whilst it said my gallery was at 100% it was actually more than that?  So that when I bought extra credit I was already behind the 8 ball so to speak. Also, how long does it take for deleted albums and images to be recognised because my gallery is saying there are 1500  images in it and Im only adding up around 1200 images so there is a discrepancy there. Thanks

I really do not know how long it takes for the gallery to update.  Try this:  AP > General > Forum > Configuration
Scroll to the bottom and resyn your forum.

It didnt change anything. I just dont understand how I had used the whole 120mb I had available, so I bought 200mb more and now instead of being 100% storage used Im 81% used, it doesnt add up. I bought the storage just on 24hrs ago, so I waited in case it took that long for it to all sync, perhaps I should wait another 24hrs and see if anything changes?

Thanks for your help too, its appreciated.

You have to purchase enough space to cover what you have used and enough for free space.

You had used 81% so you purchased 220mb which covers that space and enough to add 19% more.

Initially I had 120mb and I used 100% of it so I bought another 200mb, since I added the 200mb it now says I have 220mb but 81% of that is used. If Id used all of the 120mb then how can I have used 4/5ths of the 200 I just purchased.

If I divide up what I purchased I got another 100mb to cover what had been used plus an extra 100mb so there was more free space, right?

So then how can I only have 19% left of that extra 100mb I bought?

You have to subtract 120 from 220. Which means you exactly get 100mb extra.

What is the mb of the used gallery?

Yes thats what I did, so Im wondering how come, with 100mb left for extra, only 19% of it is free?

In credits management its telling me I actually 220mb free space, the other figures I get are these 177.97Mb used on 220 Mb(1508 Pics)

Since I added an extra 100mb of space and I deleted some albums and members have deleted some pics, my quick calculations showing I only have around 1200 pics, not 1508, its simply not adding up.  If I had used 120mb of space and I replaced it yesterday, then I should be showing around 120mb of space used, not 177.97, from what I can see only one member has added two new pics but a few of them deleted images. Two pics cant be worth almost 80mb

It depends on the sizes of those images.

sorry, its max pic size is 0.20
length: 1280
height: 1024

should I reduce the picture size parameters? I dont know what the 'average' picture size allowance would be, do you?

Why cant they just use photobucket or something similar?  lol!
