Deleting Post and topics with minus posts

I have notice that every time we delete a post or Topic our post number goes down. Is there any way we can delete post but keep our post where it is. For istance let say I have 805 post, when I delete post or topic they go down.

I would appreciate if we can not let post move down when we delete post or topics.

Please help!!

One solution is to move the post to the basket, instead of deleting it.

Do I make a forum called basket or is there one already made for me? I am not sure how this works? I just don't like the idea of loosing my post numbers.

You can go here to set up a basket forum:

AP>general tab>forum>configuration>general block>Basket is about 9 items down the list

This will put a basket icon in your mod tools at the bottom of thread pages.  It allows you to move a topic to the basket.  I don't believe you can move an individual post to the basket.  You would have to move an unwanted post to its own thread by using the 'split thread' feature, and then move that thread to the basket.

It doesn't say anything about general block?

Create a forum that will be your basket/garbage.  You can set the permissions where only staff can see it.  Then set that section as the basket.  Then move topics to it.  You can move messages from topics  by splitting them from the topic.

This isn't going to flood my group for keeping it in the basket?

Wow!! That is a lot of info to take in here, however there are some things about it I not understanding though.

The Statistics on the bottom of the forum where it says posted already 805 messages, we only can have 990 messages we can use, or am I getting confused.

If I move it to the bucket that is still including all post messages right!! So we wont have any room to post any other messages when it reaches 990? or is it in each topic that reaches 990.

I guess when it comes down to this I need a dummy manual to understand the full concept of limitation that we can have.

I just wish there was another way we can not keep the old data and still have our post numbers increasing rather decrease.

990 messages in a topic.  When a topic reaches that limit, it is locked and split into two topics.
