Mobile Version Improvements

Post by Ellianna17 on October 26th 2015, 9:20 am

Right now, we can add scripts to enable the usage of the search took and commonly-used post tools. Why don't the support have them? I am here to suggest that the support forum should have these enabled when viewing the forum using mobile version. Some members use mobiles to do foruming, and they might use the mobile version. It would be a lot more professional and easier if we have those. I myself am frequently using my mobile to participate in forums, and I sometimes find it hard to do foruming in classic version of forums.

This is definitely something to consider. I can agree that the mobile version is not too friendly in terms of posting at the moment, so I'll be watching this thread closely. Glasses

The problem is that the mobile website is a different website, different structure and all that, since most forum owners dont know how to make the original website responsive. Long story short, if you want a good looking mobile website, disable the original one and make your normal website responsive.

So you tell me you would modify the support forum's mobile version, instead of modifying them all? I doubt it. Now that I realized this suggestion is only for this forum, it gets even worse. This forum should set the pace for the others. And it doesn't do that in a good way sometimes. Also my answer fits the support forum anyway.

The support forum is 100% mobile friendly even in the desktop version of the site. I view (and have been viewing for years) the site from my phone everyday and have yet to encounter one issue.

How is this support forum not responsive?

Looks like somebody clearly doesnt know what being responsive means. It means that on any screen size, from small phones, to tablets, laptops or huge monitors, the forum should look right, everything should be easy to see and click on and it should be as enjoyable to use on any of those devices. This forum is not even close to being responsive on the desktop version. The mobile version comes close, but fails at providing all the needed features.

I have used a tablet and 2 different phones on here over the years and never encountered any problems at all clicking or doing anything. My last phone was pretty small, 4.5 inches and the site worked fine on that tiny thing so.

Topic IT is an excuse of a mobile app, pushed in our face daily.

@brandon_g, does this look responsive to you?

The mobile test by Google says it is mobile-friendly.

@brandon_g, does this look responsive to you:https://i.imgur.com/u0Y7LEY.jpg?

I don't see anything wrong in the screenshot you provided. Everything looks the same as it does on the computer, with exception to the Topic It banner being there and the page is stretched (more then likely cause your holding the device vertically and the device is adjusting accordingly). Other then that everything is exactly the same.

Re: Mobile Version Improvements

Post by Menim on January 7th 2019, 8:00 pm

Actually I'm holding the phone normally and the screen is not as big as it might look(6 inches). Look at the toolbar for example. Both the login and the register buttons are very small. The same with the share icons, which are close to impossible to be clicked on. You have to zoom in to read the description text of the forums. The footer also doesnt cover the entire screen and looks off. The only part of that page that is decently responsive is the statistics.

Honestly, do a google search on what being responsive means.

Which share buttons are you referring to?

@SLGray, the google responsiveness test tests the mobile version, which while being mostly responsive, fails when it comes to providing all the needed features.

Also, I meant the share buttons in the toolbar(facebook, twitter and so on).
