Re: Whats the difference in the different Versions?
PHPBB3 is amazing, PHPBB2 is customizable(or prob PBB1?) and idk what Invision is. Hope this sums it up for you.
Re: Whats the difference in the different Versions?
phpBB 2 is exactly considered out of date. I mean most people who create codes do not create them for phpBB 2.
All versions have different features and similar features.
For Example: Invision has profile drop down menus in messages.
You can change versions after creating your forum.

That is unless someone requests they do, in which case one for phpbb2 can be made..
In answer to your question Char Rose, I would say if your making a brand new forum and you want use phpbb I would suggest making it phpbb3. Once it made, unless you wish to invest a great deal of time trying to re code features or uninstall then re install features, or unless your forum is still fairly new and doesnt have much codes installed, it is difficult and time consuming to switch versions, especially once the forum is older, well established and older. Such as mine, which is why it still operates (and just fine too) on phpbb2, because it would require a ton of time, effort and site down time to switch over to phpbb3. Just go with the newest version if your making a new forum. Go with what fits your needs, but make sure its what you truly want while your forum is still fairly new and young .
