Solved Mandatory edit register/reason

Post by Shibiusa April 29th 2016, 2:21 pm

Hi!
I tried searching for an answer, but nothing popped-up...

Is it possible for the last edit in a post to be registered? Even if that person doesn't write the reason why.
It only registers the self-edit if someone else posts after that. It isn't registered if it's an edit by a moderator/administrator and no one will know if that post was edited or not, which is wrong. Ninja edits are a no-no.
What I mean is if we have a way to keep that "Last edit by", no matter who edits what (even if it's another person editing it). I don't mind if the "reason" for that edit has to be mandatory to be able to edit, since it would already fix that issue. I only want to keep everything clean (since the moderation logs don't show edits) and keep out ninja edits.

Exactly it should show the post was edited by anyone including staff. That message will not appear if you edit the post right after you post it.

But it doesn't. If I edit someone else's post, they will never know I edited it if I don't write anything in the "reason". So yeah, this is like promoting ninja edits xD

yes your right it will only show you made an edit if you add the data of why it was edited in the first place but there is not anyway to make that system work without placing a reason in the box.

Hum. Okay. But there's any way to enforce filling out the "reason"? Maybe not letting the person post the edit if the "reason" isn't written there. Right now, people can just edit and not write anything in the "reason" field and I would like for every edit to be registered.

Edit: We managed to get a script for this. It writes up an automatic reason if it's empty and it doesn't overwrite any written reason. It works as intended to keep a track of edited posts. Thank you!
