Solved New Post icon is out of alignment

Post by troyeccles on May 16th 2016, 3:41 pm

Hi,

I'm not sure how this has happened but if you look at the image below you'll see the LAST POST icons don't line up.
Well, they do.....except for when there's a new post. That icon for some reason is indented rather significantly.

Unless it's an oversight, I can't say it was like that earlier.

Help?

They are old posts. When I new post is made, it's a blue icon (as opposed to grey). That blue icon becomes indented.

Hi @troyeccles,

In your CSS stylesheet you have a style rule similar to this one :
Code:
.forumbg .lastpost a[href^="/t"], .forabg .last-post-icon {
  position: absolute;
  right: 10px;
  top: 10%;
}

Replace it with the following rule and you should be good. Wink
Code:
.lastpost > span > a:last-child, .last-post-icon {
  position:absolute;
  right:10px;
  top:10%;
}
FYI the problem comes because the class .last-post-icon is removed when it changes to the "new" icon.

If any problems let me know. Have a good day. salut

Sorry, I've asked for this to be re-opened as this alignment issue is also occurring on the sub-forum level.

The forum where the last post icons are lined up perfectly is here:
http://bellsareringing.forumotion.com

The sub forum example is here:
http://bellsareringing.forumotion.com/f5-villa-chat

I'm guessing it's the same code as above but which style rule do I put it in (if there's a 25 word lesson that you can teach me on how to find the name of the style form in future, that'd be good....might save me having to ask Smile )

Thanks again in advance for your help.

In Firefox, you can place your cursor over the area you want to modify and right click on it. Then pick inspect element. I believe in Chrome, it is the same way.

Hi again,

Replace your previous code with the one below :
Code:
.lastpost > span > a:last-child, .lastpost > div > span > a, .last-post-icon {
  position:absolute;
  right:10px;
  top:10%;
}
Note I added
Code:
.lastpost > div > span > a
to the selector set.

P.S.
If you want to know how to find selectors you can use your browsers developer tools. See this topic :

I can't say that I really understand how that ".lastpost > div > span > a" works but it DID!

Once again, Ange, your assistance is invaluable. I'll read that link too.

Many thanks! Have a great day.

Solved!
