In progress Forum size

Post by Guest Sat 27 Aug - 13:15

First topic message reminder :

Hey! I hope this is in the right spot. It is kinda appearance and admin panel but I recently as last weekend have put up a new banner and I made it the exact same size as my original banner and everything was fine but when I uploaded it, the forum looked squished and everything kinda went to the middle and it just looked squished. So, I put the original banner up, the one I had before, and it still looked squished. So, I just put the newly created banner up and just increased the size of the forum width. I tried to make the banner bigger so it would fit but...the size did not change, not even a little. So...to my question, is there a way to fix this problem at all? Is there something I am not doing or is there something wrong with my forum that made it do this? Please help me. Thank you!

I changed the forum to the size it was when I first created the forum. I have tried to change my forum banner size in the past and it won't change. If I try a new editor then maybe but not sure. But its okay. I will just play around with the size of the banner. Thank you guys for trying!

@catgirl may i ask what is changing now?

The banner can easily change with coding but it will ruin it's analysis. It will get pixelized. If you want to try it out use this code in your CSS:
Code:
img#i_logo { width: 100% }

@catgirl to me is shows you set it to 70% instead of 100%. If you still have it set to 100% and it doesn't work try adding
Code:
!important
to the width and it should change the width of it.

i had similar problem with the forum wrapper and the best solution i found cause iam not a coder was to reput the default template and try to add one by one all the new elements i had from my modify template ..after a while and many tests i did it

(copy , copy , copy all in case something goes wrong)

Well, I'm a very good experience in graphic design, but um to answer to your problem with the banner, my best bet, you need to look into your CSS after uploading the image to your forum site. If your CSS is blank that ok because it is your job to type it in there anyway to fix the issue. But when you are changing the forum size, that what cause your banner to shrink and it doesn't look right to your perspective. But to fix this, you have two options to try, if you have a program call Gimp2 or any other photo editing software you have on your computer, you can change the banner size as the same size as the forum width, but the height should not be the same as the forum site because that will mess up your banner real bad. Just change the height to something like 150 to 350 in between. That should make your banner set perfect in your forum site. Or your last option, you can edit your CSS code by implanting the code and set it as fixed and important and add a fixed size and width to it to stop it from resizing your forum site.

I could try that but that may not change the forum from being squished on the home page. it will make the banner maybe smaller than it needs to be. If you click on a link on the site, the size of the forum is correct. it is just the home page that is the issue.

Could it because you are using widgets?

No, I don't think that is the issue because I have been using these widgets about the same time I put my forum width to 70. I don't think it seems right to just start acting up like this right now. I would reput it like @skouliki suggested but I never did that before and I am not sure exactly how too and where I need to go on the AP. And if there is some other solutions, I will be willing to try that but I do not think is the banner size. It is the same size as my old one. It has to be something going on in the AP or something I need to reput or something.

Hi,

with interest I have read the above and also visited your forum @catgirl.
I see you have uploaded the banner to servimg.com and probably not checked if you should let it be 800 px wide or no resizing.
Your banner shows 800px x 282 px, but it is resized to 942px x 332px and it is no wonder that it is unclear.

800px width (for forums) is the normal setting when you are going to upload, please answer NO on that one and you will get the whole banner uploaded.

I have a graphic forum too so just changed my banner and it is 1000px x 400px and it is clear and nice.

Good luck! I just wanted to post a little hint in case it is one of the problems with your banner.

Have a nice day all! Oops or evening as I am in Europe.
Very Happy

@Swedegfx,

She is using a code to enlarge the banner. That's why it's "unclear"! Smile Wink
