Banning Help
I need some help with banning. Is it possible to ban an IP address with a wildcard like ###.###.##.* so that they can't just come back with a different fourth number or will that not work?

Re: Banning Help
If you do this, you could also be banning good new members.
I would just ban the certain IP addresses. The person usually gives up if you continue banning him/her.

Re: Banning Help
I mean something to ban a range rather than a single IP that way anybody on that network is blocked and they can't just switch devices which changes the fourth number in the set.Zed is Not Dead wrote:Do you mean like a ban to prevent proxy?
Please just tell me if it is possible on forumotion or not.SLGray wrote:If you do this, you could also be banning good new members.

Re: Banning Help
Hello,
You could try to use an asterisk to replace the last four digits of an IP Address.

Re: Banning Help
Yes you can ban it like that go to the members IP address and type it in as it is showing on the profile
it will look something like this
334.54.567.34
now to block a IP you would just type in the ip address but if you wanted to range ban a members ip address you would do it like this
334.54.567.*
now what that dose is bans all ip addresses that has the same ip address and all its last numbers so say the member resets he's / her Modem and it still starts the same as the first IP address then it will just change the last number so putting a * on the end means it will ban from 00 to 99
it will look something like this

I know how to do it and what it would do, but i was not sure if it would work on forumotion or not. In some places using the * instead of a number does nothing.
It seems to be working though.
