New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
First topic message reminder :
Hello,
To encourage your users to interact with the popular content of your forum, we have implemented a new feature: Newsletters "Popular contents"
This new feature (compatible only with forums with UTF-8 encoding) allows to automatically generate a newsletter with the current forum popular content and send it to users.
Unlike the classic newsletter, the newsletter "Popular Content" is not editable because it reflects in real time the most active content of the moment on your forum.
The administrator can manage this newsletter "Popular contents" from its Administration Panel > General > Newsletter - Write and send : frame Newsletters "Popular contents"

Like any Forumotion newsletter, each user has obviously from his profile, the ability to change the reception preferences of this newsletter.

Note that currently, the newsletter feature "Popular Contents" is only in demonstration mode to give you an idea of the rendering of this newsletter on emails. It will be functional on the first forums from late February 2018 with a sending every 15 days.

@APE @The Godfather Is it okay if I use your screenshots on my forum in my announcement of this new feature? I don't have access to a computer so I can't post screenshots.

Re: New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
My first newsletter went out on 16th March and it looked good - I've only had one complaint which wasn't bad considering I've got 8336 members! Hopefully the second one will go out tomorrow. I like it

Re: New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
I thought the Newsletters were supposed to go out every 15 days?
Mine didn't.
Are they now monthly instead of every 15 days?

Re: New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
I have a question I need an answer to, before I can activate this feature..
Our most popular content are topics in a forum with access permission to only a certain group, others aren't allowed to see these topics !
So my question is when I enable this feature will other members outside this certain group get to see links to these topics which they aren't allowed to see? Or does it actually works depending on the access permission settings I made in the forums?
Kind Regards,
Tonny Kamper

Thank you very much for explaining @SLGray
then I won't enable this feature, because the privacy of the topicposter comes first.. other groups can't see the topic titles that are posted in there and I like to keep it that way, to make the posters feel safe enough to speak about the trauma's they're dealing with..

You can activate this, but members can deactivate it in their profiles.

Re: New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
I need to correct what I posted. This feature will only show the popular content that is visible to guests.SLGray wrote:It sends the most popular content, but it does not change your permissions on your forum. So yes, they will see the topics that are not accessible to them. When they click the links, they will see a page with the login boxes. When they login, they will only see the message that says they do not have permission to see that section.

This is very a serious remark: this is a breach of GDPR!
Under GDPR, newsletters have to be an opt-in service. None of the forum users have given their explicit consent to receive these newsletters, you have just enabled them by default.
I would strongly recommend you to publish an update to disable these newsletters by default, otherwise you and all forum owners who have European users will be in breach of European legislation as of 25 May (i.e. next Friday).
This is not a joke, I actually have users on my forum saying they are considering reporting Forumotion if they receive another newsletter after 25 May.
Re: New: Newsletters "Popular Contents"
Hello,
@JPC, Forumotion is an international service, we do know we have to make some changes in order to comply to the GDPR.

Shadow
