Solved Problem with Structure & hierarchy in my forum index

Post by Zordon on March 2nd 2018, 11:19 pm

I recently changed the skin version of my forum to Modernbb http://prig.forumgreek.com/forum. My problem is that Index Packing is not working as it was with the previous skin versions. Some categories don't show up even though they have forums inside with hundreds of messages. I was always picking Full from the Index Packing menu. Now only if I choose Full from Split Categories in index menu they appear all of them, but I don't like the look of it. How can I alter the number of categories showing up when choosing Full in Index Packing? I don't have them hidden or something. Any help would be appreciated

There is a known issue with this feature in ModernBB, and it has been reported.

Have you tried the medium option in the bottom row? It is what we use on the support forum.

I tried all options. Because I have tons of subforums in my categories I don't like all of them to show up in root. Anyway I will just keep the 3rd option in second menu until the issue is being resolved. Thanks for the info

I just realised I have another problem. Not all forums appear when a category has many forums in it http://prig.forumgreek.com/c14-category
See how few of them appear http://prig.forumgreek.com/f311-forum
Can I do something about it? Can I increase the number appearing somehow? Should I put smaller cover pictures or something?

Sorry for bumping this but can anyone help? I still haven't found a way for all forums to appear in categories that have many forums

Solved Re: Problem with Structure & hierarchy in my forum index

Let me be more specific

1. If pick Full in Split Categories in Index many categories in index are not shown up. It's like there is a limit or something. I was told here that it is a known issue so I can't pick this up even though I would love it if it was working correctly because it is by far the best looking. I will wait patiently for it
2. The other options "none" and "semi" are rejected for me in "Split Categories in Index" and in "Keep Categories in Index" because the forum have a very big number of forums inside categories and I don't want them to show up in the index.
3. What I have chosen right now is Full from "Split Categories in Index"
Spoiler:
. All categories show up correctly in index but there is a very big problem with categories that include many forum inside. Like the Anime Series example I gave above. About this I a most concerned, if something can be done. A way to control how many forums can appear inside a category.

Those problems were non existant with phpBB2 or phpBB3. I know ModernBB is in beta mode right now. I just wonder if anyone has found a way to fix those problems somehow. Especially in the third mention I do. If not and it's bugged as well, then just inform me and I will switch to pspBB3 until all bugs are corrected

Try this:  Set the option you want and add this to your CSS stylesheet
Code:
    ul.forums {
              max-height: PLAY AROUND WITH DIFFERENT NUMBERSpx;
          }
