Solved Domain via CNAME not showing

Post by Tonight June 5th 2018, 3:48 pm

I have an external domain name connected with my forum for almost 6 years now. Today there was some sort of a change, external domain name (http://www.faval.eu/) still connects to my forum (http://familyvastaneliit.forum.co.ee/) but it displays/changes to long address.

I know that there was an update introducing packages but quoting @The Godfather:
we do not delete anything from your forums! what is in place before the implementation of the packages we do not touch it and will remain as it is.

if you have already installed an external domain via CNAME on your forum before packages update, now that the packages are in place, as long as your CNAME is still active, it will not change anything for you even if you are in a free package that does not include an external domain. however, if you delete the current CNAME and want to set up a new one, you will need to be in a package allowing it.

ACP logs are empty, change wasn't from my part. So my question is: is it supposed to be like this or has there been a bug? This isn't the first time when something gets changed in panel by Forumotion automatically (Javascripts disabled, unofficial forms security etc).

Solved Re: Domain via CNAME not showing

Hello,

Since the implementation of the packages, a custom domain such as a CNAME are reserved for forums that have acquired an Advanced or Premium package. Until today we tolerated some exceptions having kept domains out of packages. However, we can no longer maintain two-speed forums which requires adapting all our developments to the various existing exceptions...

Therefore, if a forum is in a free package, a redirection is made to its base URL. In other words, in a free package, even if the forum has somehow kept a custom domain name or a CNAME, it will still be the basic forum url that will respond.

If the admin wants to use the forum with a custom domain or a CNAME as main address, it must be in an Advanced or Premium active package.

Thank you for your understanding
