Description of problem

Hi guys!

I could use a little help with my forum coding. What I actually want to do, is to make username font bigger in size, but only in posts. I tried some codes which I found here, but it changed username size everywhere: at the homepage, last messages, widgets, memberlist, online members, etc. I need username font to stay at size 12 px everywhere, and in posts to be bigger, like 20 px. I have slightly modified viewtopic_body template on my forum. I can provide you my forum CSS code, templates, test account or even login to founder account, whatever you need, just please help me with this Smile

I see you are using PhpBB2.

Try following the steps in this thread below and see if that will work!

Can you make it so guests can see atleast one part of your forum posts so we can get the codes off of your forum so we can give you the right settings by CSS files.

Hello give this a try it should work.

Code:

Please note that if you have a long name then it will step down at some point

I know that, thank you for warning. Actually, right now I just want to find the way to modify username font size in post only without affecting it everywhere else. Once I figure it out, I'll modify the size if necessary.

I just tried your code. It worked, but as you can see, font became bigger not only in posts, but everywhere Sad I need it to change in posts only.

Well, that's sad. But there are some forums which have different sizes of username fonts. Don't know forum versions though, but there they are, for example: http://underthesun.forumotion.com/
http://medioaevo.forumotion.com/
So I still think there is a way to do that Smile

To change the template, follow these steps.

Access Admin Panel -> Display Tab -> Templates -> General administration -> viewtopic-body

Then find this code:
Code:
        <!-- BEGIN displayed -->
          <tr class="post">
              <td class="{postrow.displayed.ROW_CLASS}"{postrow.displayed.THANK_BGCOLOR} valign="top" width="150">
                <span class="name"><a name="{postrow.displayed.U_POST_ID}"></a><strong>{postrow.displayed.POSTER_NAME}</strong></span><br />
                    <span class="postdetails poster-profile">
                    {postrow.displayed.POSTER_RANK}<br />
                    {postrow.displayed.RANK_IMAGE}{postrow.displayed.POSTER_AVATAR}<br /><br />
                    <!-- BEGIN profile_field -->

Replace with this:
Code:
        <!-- BEGIN displayed -->
          <tr class="post">
              <td class="{postrow.displayed.ROW_CLASS}"{postrow.displayed.THANK_BGCOLOR} valign="top" width="150">
                <span class="name2"><a name="{postrow.displayed.U_POST_ID}"></a><strong>{postrow.displayed.POSTER_NAME}</strong></span><br />
                    <span class="postdetails poster-profile">
                    {postrow.displayed.POSTER_RANK}<br />
                    {postrow.displayed.RANK_IMAGE}{postrow.displayed.POSTER_AVATAR}<br /><br />
                    <!-- BEGIN profile_field -->

Then just click save!

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
James

Solved Re: Username font size

Post by Draxion on November 9th 2018, 8:22 am

Solved by editing the template viewtopic_body, adding a simple div element to the username with the class "custom_username" and then used this CSS to modify it.

Code:
div.custom_username > a > span > strong {
  font-size: 20px;
}
