Description of problem

I was wondering if there is a way with sorting topics to keep them in order so they are not moving with recent posting.
example: say I wanted posts to be in alphabetical order and keep it that way. Not having say someone posts in letter K post and it gets moved up top. I want then to stay in alpha order and I see no options in; Sort the posts of topic by: it only has 2 option oldest or recent. I was hoping I put sort topic by alphabet order and the Sort the posts of topic by: alphabet order as well to keep it that order.

Hope I'm making sense lol

thank you
Dyane

Hello,

I don't believe there is a way to do this with the default options. It might be possible to do with code, but I am not sure.

I think with the way the system has been set up serverside is that new posts will always show before old posts, regardless of how it is sorted. I am not 100% sure on this though.

Hi Skouliki

I did try that. I know theirs many options but there isn't
in the; Sort in the posts of a topic by.
Soon as someone posts it will move anyways.

I'm guessing their isn't a way. lol

I was hoping the stickies would of stay in order at least lol

had they stayed in the order you posted them and when
anyone posted it didn't move up to be recent post. lol

Hello,

Pleass don't post just emotes. Your welcome to bump, but it can't be just like one emote or something, there should be some text to go with it.

This isn't a formal reminder, just letting you know single simley/emote posts are against the rules.

You have 2 options:
1.Load every single page with topics, filter them in javaacript than show them somehow. This would be a nightmare, as it would be slower the more topics you have.
2.Keep a list of topics on an external server, but why would you use forumotion if you had that external server? It would not be too difficult to do nor would make your forum much slower. If you have an external server and give me ftp access to it and admin(not founder) access to your forum I could probably code this.

Hi Menim,
Not to sure what your saying, you have me lost. lol

That other forum is closed. We had moved here about 4 months ago.
The owner and I can still go in to get anything we need to bring over.

We don’t have such access to the old one if that’s what your asking.

I just thought maybe a code was able to be made but if not that’s ok.

I didn't mean you need acces to an old forum, what you need is an external server, which you buy for real money.

menim means a server that stands between an external network.. example Internet... and a private network
and serves as a firewall..it prevents external users from directly accessing the internal information resources

Actually no. I mean a server that has nothing to do with your forum. When you post a topic it would Be sent to that server. On that server we can easily sort those topics by whatever we want.
