Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
I've recently started administrating our phpbb3 site. When in a profile within the administration panel, the email address is partially censored, and while I swear I was able to see it uncensored previously, is there a way to make this readable for the sake of people who tell me "hey I forgot my login email"? We have longstanding (several years) members who return after a long break and don't remember which email they used. I noticed I can see the email of all our top posters and those who have recently signed up, but when I manually go to their page, it's again censored there. I'd prefer to be able to tell someone "your email is set to [email]" rather than asking them what they want it set to and overwriting their old one. A few I have gotten away with being able to tell them the obfuscated email, but for those with random numbers at the end of it, the obfuscation blocks out the vital bit.
To reiterate, is there an option to see emails within their profile without asterisks in the Administration Panel? If so, is it Founders-only for security purposes? So I know whether to try getting in contact with them (they're often very busy).
Thanks in advance for any help!

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
Do you use a feature in your browser to save passwords and usernames? If yes, turn it off and check the profile again,

I do, but toggling it off and reloading, and even using an entire other browser hasn't fixed it. I have noticed that viewing my own profile, the email isn't obfuscated. That's what initially lead me to believe a security feature.

What device are you using to view the profiles?

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
I do not see that here or on my forum. Clear your browser's history and cache.

Cleared browser history/cache - same issue.
Used another Windows PC I've never accessed the Administration Panel from, with the Microsoft Edge browser (which was only used at first startup to download Chrome). Still the same issue.
I have noticed that box is ever-so-slightly more gray and this appears in the 'style=' field when inspecting the element with a dummy account I made:
When actually clicking in the field to type, this changes to:
I've also noticed the font has changed, as seen in the dummy profile here (non-functioning email of course):

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
Upon searching that "/notgetmember_pic" line, I found a topic on phpbb's forums stating:
I assume this is related? Though odd if yours doesn't do that and ours does
"Forumotion turned the email addresses in the admin panel into images"

I usually just backspace the info out then it works.

This is the only result that came up in Google: https://ecig.forum-canada.com/t2944-fichier-suspect-qui-se-telecharge-automatiquement-et-se-fait-passer-pour-adobe
I translated it into English but none of it was really relevant to my situation. The post itself had a link to this site saying it was an explanation: https://www.phpbb.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=65&t=861505&start=480&hilit=forumotion
Again, none of it really relevant to my situation and it's nearly a decade old, I just hit ctrl+f and searched for that "/notgetmember_pic" line.

Oh I can easily just backspace the information and replace it (rather, it automatically clears when I click in the text box), I was hoping for it not to be obfuscated in the first place.
I can already see the emails for all our top and new members on the Users & Groups landing page (Advanced), not sure why it's obfuscated when I search someone specifically though.

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
Hello,
And of course you were in a profile many times before !
What happens is normal. You made the same action too many times in a row and had been taken for a bot. So your forum is protecting users's personal data by preventing you to get them. And as bots can't read pictures, emails are replaced with pictures.
Just stop using your admin panel a few hours and emails will appear again.
Next time you need to do x times the same thing, just slow down, and you'll never hit again that safety.

Ah ok, this may make perfect sense! I just recently gained admin access so naturally I've been making a lot of overdue changes, including an entirely separate issue where I've had to go through dozens of profiles (so far) to fix their avatars. Perhaps it thinks I'm a web crawler or something? I'll give it a break and see if it returns to normal later tonight

Exactly ! This safety is there but most people never heard of it.
If you hit it, it probably means you are very fast. It never occurs on "normal" use.

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
I was giving it time to verify it worked but sadly I haven't touched the AP for around 12 hours and it still obfuscates all profile email fields.

Re: Obfuscated emails in the Administration Panel?
Clearing the cache and cookies didn't initially work for some reason after waiting overnight but reinstalling the browser (Chrome) just now did the trick! I assume the cache/cookies just didn't delete properly before.
So if it happens again, just wait for it to cool down, then clear the cookies and cache again (or maybe a few times in my case haha)
Thanks so much Neptune-!
