Google fonts

First of all, I apologize if this has been asked before but I couldn't find another topic or any explanation on the Internet really, so I notice a few days ago that if there was a Google font used in an html message with a link to it, the link vanishes once you hit send and the html code itself messes up. Can someone please explain why's that and how to fix it?

P.S. I'm familiar that you can import the font code into the css section and it works properly but I've used the link method in forums I'm not an admin to and where importing the code is not an option.
