Problems after maintance
Hello!
We have some problems since the maintance.
1. We use point system (it's a role playing game forum). After maintance lot of users lost points. For example someone wrote 84 posts, but the counter shows only 47. Or look this: It seems she wrote only one post, but actually she wrote more than 10.

https://dominium.hungarianforum.com/spa/Madina%20Callaghan#top
2. Notifications: During and after maintance some users got around 30 e-mails, but there are no new post in the watched topic.
3. Date: In memberlist some users didn't visit the forum since 05 August. But they wrote posts after that date.

Can you help to fix these?
Thank you!

Re: Problems after maintance
Hello,
Some administrators still have similar problems after maintenance.
We will make a point with the technical team, by analyzing all the information that you provide and the progress of the technicians on the server side, and I will come back to you to give you new information and / or instructions.

Re: Problems after maintance
Is anyone able to say what the latest maintenance problem has been?
Yesterday my forum was taking around 30 seconds to load and another 30 seconds for every link clicked on.

Usually while the forum is loading you can see 'transferring data' things going on in the bottom left hand corner - but there was none of that yesterday.

Today it seems ok (at the moment), but there does seem to be rather a lot of issues lately. Is there an explanation?

Re: Problems after maintance
Hello @jkh,
Here is what happened yesterday : Maintenance issues
The restart of the servers and the content recovery job are now complete. This means that if you see content changes now, there is nothing more we can do on our end.
The solution to recover the maximum is to make a backup using the last available date (last week therefore) and choosing the option "Insert only the lost content without touching the current content".
Here is the tutorial if necessary: How does a back-up work
We apologize for this incident and thank you for your patience and kindness
P.S. We will be adding hardware in the next 2 weeks, to prevent such a technical problem from reoccurring.
Best regards

Re: Problems after maintance
Thanks @Luzz I'm sure it must be a headache for you guys at times maintaining such a vast server for us all.
Generally my forum Homepage and Portal is loading in around 3 seconds, instead of 30 - although the photographs and videos threads are still taking around 1 minute to load - it didn't take this long before...but at least they all still seem to be there. Is there anything I can do to rectify this loading time?
Fingers crossed for a problem-free few weeks until your new hardware is installed.

Re: Problems after maintance
Thank you @jkh for you kind feedback !
If you still do having this slow loading problems I finally don't think it is related to yesterday problems. Maybe it is something to do with this issue :
EDIT https://help.forumotion.com/t159432-our-forum-is-regularly-slow-when-typing-and-pasting#1111115
I'll report to our technicians.

Re: Problems after maintance
I've tried accessing 'forum utilities' before but cannot gain access. Something to do with founder password...even when I click on forgot password (which I haven't) I don't get anywhere, and I haven't changed my email address so a reminder can be sent.
I have no idea what 'forum utilities' even looks like.
I've tried loading the forum on different browsers and the loading time on the photo threads is the same, sometimes even longer...and the forum loading time has now increased from 3 seconds to 10 seconds.

Yes, opening the forum itself seems ok, but opening some threads is not ok.skouliki wrote:i can open your forum jkh
This sub-forum for instance:

But then this thread takes over a minute

Re: Problems after maintance
Most of my members have now been disconnected from the forum - it's gone from having 150 members online to 17 in just a few seconds.
Re: Problems after maintance
Has the system administrator been able to do anything?
I tried to open the photographs thread that I linked above but gave up after two minutes. I asked one of my moderators how long it took for her to open the same thread and she said "1 minute and 20 seconds", so it's not just my computer. It seems to be getting stuck on the date transfer scroll on syndication.twitter, or platformtwitter.com or even addthis.com. There is nothing about twitter on that thread and I have no idea what addthis.com is, where it is in the admin panel or how to remove it.
The problems on my forum are getting worse. I've tried different browsers, even a different computer. Other forumotion sites open quick enough, as do all other sites - even those with lots of images/adverts so I assume it's not even a modem problem.
There is something wrong with my forum. I clicked on 'Resynchronize your forum' in the admin panel this morning around 8am and it's still doing whatever it's supposed be doing. Is it normal to take this long? In fact, what is it even doing?
I was going to open a new thread as I seem to have hijacked this one, but these problems do seem to be happening to my forum since the last maintenance.

Re: Problems after maintance
If a page is full of images, it could take a while to load the page.

I don't think it's that.SLGray wrote:If a page is full of images, it could take a while to load the page.
This thread https://jillhavern.forumotion.net/t6173-dating-the-photos has got just as many images (although some of them are now no longer showing as they'd been uploaded with photobucket), but there's still 31 images and the thread loads in 3 seconds - yet the other thread takes almost 2 minutes and all the images have been uploaded using servimg.

We need to wait patiently until Luzz comes back and replies with updates.

Re: Problems after maintance
I am a member on this forum. I was suffering issues with it this morning, but I have tested it just now as a guest and signed in and everything is now loading quickly for me. That includes the link further up (photos and memories). But the first couple of times I tried that link, the photos were missing from that thread. They seem to be showing now though.

Most of the images loaded for me (and pretty quickly considering the amount there were). All the ones that don't work I assume were the old photobucket ones since the image url is replaced one of our 'empty' image ones.

Re: Problems after maintance
Hi Brandon...that particular thread has now been sorted out. I'd found a few photos that'd been taken from dubious places so I re-uploaded them to servimg using the Edit facility. That seems to have resolved the problem on that thread.brandon_g wrote:jkh wrote:I don't think it's that.SLGray wrote:If a page is full of images, it could take a while to load the page.

But what a chore it's been finding the problem.
But, of course, my forum is absolutely littered with photos from the internet - some from photobucket, some from deleted sites, so I'm sure I'll have to do the same thing as and when I come across the same problem.
Re: Problems after maintance
Hello @jkh,
Yes, I think you are right here
But do you still have problems with loading the index of the forum ?

Re: Problems after maintance
By the end of yesterday it took 3 seconds to load the index (which has many images) and 3 seconds to load the Portal (which has many videos) - today it's taking 9 seconds, and around 15 seconds to load a thread that hasn't got images in it, around a minute to load a thread that has got images in it - so, yes, it would seem that problems are creeping back in despite 'resynchronizing the forum'.
Re: Problems after maintance
There is no point in doing a resynchronize for your forum as it has problems that can not and will not be fixed by the 'resynchronize tool.
It maybe a good move is to tell your members not to copy any links and photo's / images from outside sites.
If they want to post a image from other sites it would be advised to copy the image to their computer then host it with us this way if there is a image loading problem we can fix it, but if the site you have took it from without saving it your self has a problem we can not fix it then you have to go over your site with a fine tooth comb and re do it. A long way round things if you ask me.

Hello jkh,
Could you tell me more about this please ? Just to confirm, you are getting this message even if the time is longer than 10 seconds ? Does it happen regularly or just happened several times yesterday ?
Thank you.
