what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
What does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
What does it do?
How long should it take?
I clicked on it this morning at 8am to see if it might fix some problems and it's still resynchronizing 10 hours later - is it normal to take so long?

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
no the resynchronization is just a click (the best way to describe the resynchronize function is that it 'refreshes' your forum)
can you post a screenshot of the message you get in the admin panel

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
I'm not getting any message...just the dot going from left to right.
What sort of message should I get?

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
Yes I checked the box and hit save at 8am and ever since have had the dot going from left to right as though it's still doing the resynchronizing. I don't even know if it's ok to close the tab or whether I've got to leave it open until it stops doing whatever the heck it's doing.
I've got a huge problem going on with my forum as outlined in the other thread and I'm losing the will to live with it all.

After you resyn your forum, the AP page will refresh with the message that your forum has been resyned.
Basically what this does is refresh the data between the forum and database.

So it can take more than 11 hours? It's still doing it even now, almost 12 hours later.SLGray wrote:After you resyn your forum, the AP page will refresh with the message that your forum has been resyned.

I have a 'loading' problem going on with my forum - this issue, plus the long loading time for my photo threads.
It's not normal.
Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
Hello @jkh
Good to see you again.
when you resynchronize your forum it will only take 1 to 10 minuets the most unless you have lots of members and posts like this support then it will take about 20 minuets maximum.
I will never take any more then an hour.
The dot on your browser has nothing to do with the resynchronize program.
Resynchronize your forum just talks to our servers and tells it to refresh your forum and this is done right (Sort of like a slap around the face) all it does is tells the servers to speed up if a change is not showing up when you have made a change to your forum like CSS and JavaScripts maybe a change of colours or even if you added a new skin / Theme from hitskin.
The loading dot on your browser is something not linked to your resynchronize progress it is nothing not loading right

Now that made me laugh!APE wrote:Resynchronize your forum just talks to our servers and tells it to refresh your forum and this is done right (Sort of like a slap around the face) all it does is tells the servers to speed up if a change is not showing up when you have made a change to your forum like CSS and JavaScripts maybe a change of colours or even if you added a new skin / Theme from hitskin.

After today, I feel like I've had a slap around the face I can tell ya.

I haven't made any changes to the forum, other than deleting some old javascripts - these issues have started happening during/after the last maintenace...whether it's connected to that, I don't know, but that's when it started.

We need to wait and do nothing until Luzz comes and gives update about the situation.

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
It's not the forum itself that's slow loading, it's some of the threads, like this one:

Your forum is looking for a link to photo's from Twitter

This has nothing to do with our end this is a loading problem with Twitter images.
Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
Yes, I've noticed it gets stuck on syndication.twitter, or even platformtwitter but I've actually been through the entire thread looking at the photos and they're all uploaded using servimg.APE wrote:jkh wrote:It's not the forum itself that's slow loading, it's some of the threads, like this one:

There aren't any twitter images on that thread.
--------------
eta: I've now found a couple of rogue photos on that thread that were from goodness-knows-where and I've removed them and now that thread is loading properly.
I might try resynchronizing the forum again now and see if giving it another slap around the face could help.

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
But was they took from Twitter in the first place ?
Why I ask is sometimes if you just take them from a site they still link to Twitter try and save the photo's to your computer change the file name then re-host them see if that fixes the problem.

Re: what does 'Resynchronize your forum' mean?
I just edited my post before yours. You're right, I found a couple of photos that were taken from dubious places.
I've just resynchronized the forum again and it was done in seconds.
