Solved Russian hackers?

Post by Gurufissu November 2nd 2020, 3:15 pm

Hi, I don't know if I am in the right place, but here we go : the 29th October, a new account was created on my forum. I didn't give it any attention, and today, this account, which had no rights, put Russian advertising for hemorrhoid cures on forum strictly hidden?? How did they? It is really strange.

Hello,

It has been 3 days since a wave of spam from Russia took place. The tech team is working on it to find and ban this spammer.

Do not hesitate to post all the links here in order to help us.

I meant hidden, like you knows forums which aren't accessible only with permissions. But well, it is fine now, we changed some permissions, maybe it was our fault. Although, I believe we have been hacked. Fortunately it was just some stupid ads...

I have nothing to help you though, good luck!

If you can provide the link of the topic of where they posted you can help them with the search. That's if you didn't delete it or removed the member by banning them.

Regards.

Solved Re: Russian hackers?

Post by The Godfather November 5th 2020, 4:05 pm

We believe that the spammer created Topic'it accounts and then used Topic'it Connect to subscribe to the forums. As the option of activating registrations via Topic'it Connect is often configured on "automatic validation", this has enabled him to register on many forums. Including those with activation by the administrator but on which activation via Topic'it Connect is automatic.

To prevent this, we have revised the registration constraints on Topic'it and Forumotion by preventing many free disposable email services + few other protections :wouhou:
