Hacked/deleted forum and someone made a new one with the exact name?

Description of problem

I made a forum back in 2014, and back in 2019 (I think it was) I decided to take a step back from that hobby the forum was about, and made a trusted friend a mod so that the forum could still be up.

1/1 2021 I saw a worrying email sent in late october 2020 on a old emailaccount adressed to /forumname/, and when I went to check what it all was about the forum was gone. Apperently there was a member who wanted the forum gone, and they say a friend to them hacked and deleted it. According to the mod-friend, if I understand them right, was the forum still up early october, however mid oct it was gone, and a new forum, with the same name was created late oct.

I have searched through every email-account I can think of to try to find a founder-email or something, but I cant find any emails older than 2016.
I just want to know what happened to my forum. I also want to know how they could send a email to me, adressed to /forumname/ in late oct when the forum was presumably deleted.

If you spent a long time without activity in the forum it is possible that it has been eliminated from the DB and another user has created one with the same address that happens many times.

To know more about this forum you must contact some Staff and send them the url and the email that this forum had and they will be able to inform you in what situation it is.

When you say you made a friend a mod, do you mean you gave access to the founder's account?
