How to remove the minus reputation symbol

Description of problem

After following your tutorials I am just seeking help on how to remove the minus negative option in the Reputation system thanks.

First I inserted the code below and nothing changed. Then I tried again and left the area between the href attributes blank. Again no change.



After both these attempts viewtopic_body is now red and says waiting and has been for 24 hours.





Next I added this code to CSS and again no luck. The negative rep minus symbol is still there.




Finally I inserted this code and I have removed the negative minus symbol but now have TWO green thumbs up in its place. I don't really care if I end up with the plus symbol or the thumbs up but I just want one and I have no idea what padding is.





I'm scared I am going to mess up the forum. I'm code challenged and would appreciate help in simple terms. I am thankful and grateful for the help in advance.

in order for a change to be valid on a template, you must save and publish the template

I still have 2 positive rep thumbs and don't know how to delete one of them. I also don't know which code to use in the main forum because none of them worked in the test forum until the final code which gave me the 2 thumbs. I don't want to apply any of this to the main forum until I have it right.

The option for the default templates is on the page of the admin panel where you find all the templates

On the editor there is a button called code tags we use that button when we want to insert codes or templates

That is only a tiny part of the template. So if you haven't made any other changes to the viewtopic_body template, I would suggest replacing the entire template with this:

And this is the template for the main/real forum which is the point of this whole exercise lol. I'll assume I need to make the same changes to both. I have been reticent to make any changes I don't understand to the main forum unless I am confident with my abilities and is why I made the test forum to play around with. I've changed little things like color here but nothing major yet.

You have to edit the viewtopic_body template, then remove the entire code inside it and paste the new code I posted as your template. Then you press save and then publish the template by pressing the green tick. As for the other template, there's nothing you can do in there..

I did all that and now the format has gone strange. I've only tried it on the test forum so far but this is how it looks now. Thank God I have a test forum or I would have ruined my main forum by now

There was a mistake in the template. I'm sorry for the mistake. It was entirely my fault. In any case, though, you should always keep a backup. And what I mean with that, before you change any code, first save the old one in a document somewhere and then change the code, so in the case that it will "be faulty" in some way, you'd have your backup to return to the old one you had.

I removed the template by using the red x and the test forum went back to looking normal. I then re-entered and published the new template again but the forum has gone back to looking crazy again.

I don't think I am doing anything wrong? I can't see how I can be? *shrug

Clear your browser's cache and history after you installed the coding.

Remove the template using the red X again and try adding this in your CSS:
Admin Panel > Display > Colors and Pictures : Colors > CSS Stylesheet

1. If I just add what you gave me to the CSS Stylesheet on my main forum it will work without people losing their already gained reputation and if something goes wrong I can just remove it again and will be back to normal?

2. Can I replace the plus sign with a green thumb?

Yes, if you add the code in your main forum nothing will be affected. And if something happens you can remove this code and it will be back to normal. Now, as for the thumbs, try adding this CSS also:

I added that code below the previous code I'd put in to remove the negatives ie it started at line 2 and got this error message.

I just add it under the one I have there now where I removed the negative reps? I tried it again and I don't know what I am doing wrong. I'm still getting an error and you can see the bottom of the pink error message at the top of the screenshot.

First line is wrong … the last part of the first line is duplicated, same as the second line by mistake

@Red Lily, yes, as @Skouliki said, you have to remove the first line that doesn't have any code in it. It is a duplicate.

I deleted the duplicate part of the code. I still don't have a green thumb though. I have a square box. I think it's time I gave up this just doesn't seem to want to work for me and I'm wasting everyone's time.
